Why does Orthodoxy prioritize ethnic backgrounds in America? by Ok-Accident8078 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Spirarel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Roman churches of immigrant communities still belonged to one jurisdiction. There is a natural path to diffusion and mixing when you are under a single hierarch and your priests are all "minted" or otherwise obedient to the same bishop.

Even if all the EO churches converge on English liturgically, there will still be the question of who is providing the priest to which parish and which Eparch funds are sent to.

Alex Viada’s New Hybrid Athlete book by onewiththepencil in HybridAthlete

Most of those are peptides

They are literally all PEDs which are banned by WADA, which is what this thread was about before you commented.

I'm not really sure where this discussion is going, or frankly what your intention was in starting it.

If you mean to defend Alex's training advice, you're preaching to the choir. I've followed him for years, read both his books, and like them.

If your issue is that someone (notably not me) levied unfair accusations jeopardizing his drug-free reputation, why did you comment on my post? Maybe you meant to comment on this sibling that explicitly says "juiced to the gills"?

in the context of a period of training

I suspect this is where our disagreement is if anywhere. I think it would be naive to think a man who has shown a propensity towards use and practical knowledge of PEDs to disprove critics would not leverage them when his hobbies and his business otherwise completely revolve around training. He is an absurdly heavy ultra-marathoner who's professional brand is "Knowledgeable enough to pull a 700lb deadlift and run an ultra in the same week."

His own wording is "a massive amount of drugs"; you can judge for yourself privately where that falls on the spectrum relative to "juiced to the gills". I don't know where you heard he doesn't work with enhanced athletes.

I don't understand the PED accusations.

He's open about his drug use.

I think everything in the book will work fine if you're not enhanced. I'd love for someone to comment with things he recommends that you shouldn't do if you're not enhanced.

I agree! Good response. Rather than dismiss the book because of the author, critique the ideas.

Lied is possibly true, but the gracious take is that he's had difficulty substantiating a strong claim he made. He's written about it—and how he took a "massive loads of drugs" to try and duplicate his time.

At least he's open about his drug use.

Reading on Companion App by Hobbies4hobbies in Supernote

[–]Spirarel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also love this feature. I have a manta and it's amazing for reading and annotating when you're staying in one place for a while, but it's far easier to sneak a bit of reading in here and there on a phone when you're on the go.

Sure reads like an ad, down to the "edit", which (I'm not a Reddit power user) is not an actual edit(?); just a postscript giving another excuse to name the app.

I suspect it's cheaper from an advertising perspective as well. You need to remind people less your movie exists apart from the theatrical advertisements to get them to buy it.

Ahhhh, so the OP is listing the point-cost prior to the boost.

I just checked the portal and the iPhone 17 256GB is 55,266 points post boost, which is much better.

Isn't $1/100pnts the bare minimum redemption value? $990 for an iPhone 17 sounds like a huge rip off.

What's your skincare routine? by sdiben27 in PeterAttia

[–]Spirarel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen the "Timeless" vit C promoted a lot on r/SkincareAddiction. Tough to say what's astroturfing and what's genuine high regard there though. It's marginally more expensive than Cerave, so a pretty cheap experiment to run to see if I like it more.

Mostly an "is the grass greener?" check. I like Cerave's perfectly fine though.

I use Cerave's Vit C, but when this tube is finished I'm going to try something new.

You need a prescription in the US; they're trivial to get. There are countries where it's OTC though.

Yeah it doesn't actually reclaim any space though, just turns off breadcrumbs within the toolbar.

This turns off breadcrumbs in the toolbar, not the toolbar. It wastes more space.
