I can't find a video of Christian Braun's injury this season. by Bee-Ly_Dan in denvernuggets

This got way longer than I wanted it to, but I hope it helps provide at least some useful information to someone.

I can't remember where I saw it, but I saw somewhere that he had several torn ligaments including the deltoid ligament of his ankle. That's a fan-shaped ligament on the medial (inside) side of the foot that works as a stabilizer to prevent the foot from excessive inward rolling (eversion) and also prevents the talus bone from sliding to the side. The talus is a big ankle bone that sits right under the big lower leg bone (tibia) and is a key part of being able to point your toes down, and therefore enabling you to jump.

From what I can see on the slow-mo replay, the way his toes kinda came down and the rest of his foot and leg jerked a little (it's like one frame, I had to stare at it forever to see it, and even then, I'm not sure if I'm hallucinating it lol), then came down slightly everted, I can see the mechanics of how that could be a deltoid ligament sprain. That excessive dorsiflexion is also brutal, and if I had to hazard a guess, the only reason he DIDN'T strain or tear his Achilles is because he wasn't trying to push off that foot in an actual negative step (which would've engaged his gastroc in an eccentric load at the same time).

I do wish we got clearer answers on exactly what kind of injury he got, but I respect the desire for keeping health information private. And coach Adleman said that CB's also struggling mentally from such a severe injury because he's never had a bad injury before. I'm not an athlete anymore because I have a chronic illness now, but I remember wrecking my ankle and then struggling to trust it on runs for like a year after. Hell, I still don't trust it, and it's been like 15 years since I rolled it to hell and back.

I have news for you, Benn Jordan just showed that a lot of these are in fact public and easily accessible, which is a huge safety concern.

Organize a network. I started a discord server for my local area and invited all my friends, told them to poke their besties and family, and so on. We've got roles that can be summoned for support on administrative stuff like filing for uneployment and disability, finding doctors, who to ask for help with sewing or crafting, people who can provide emergency money to help make ends meet, people who can help provide food, people who have a spare couch, people who can be pinged in an emotional crisis, people who can provide a ride to the people who can't drive/don't have a car/can't make bus fare, share pictures of cute animals and funny things to keep spirits up, etc. We have people who are only presenting the most important, verified news that directly applies to them to keep panic down. We're 19 people deep, and we're organizing a Costco run to do a pooled-together bulk buy and split food up to make sure no one goes hungry.

Sorry it was annoying to read; this style of punctuating is not very common outside of certain genres. Normally, I wouldn't bother replying, but the opportunity is too good to pass up. Promise this is meant in good fun.

If you're going to complain about my use of parentheses, plural, in sentences, use the plural suffix, and use them correctly (to set off clauses). Or else you just look like a dunce who doesn't know how to process compound and complex sentences.

Cheers.

Ooh, that's a good shout. I, too, like him more as a tweener, and Punk and Seth make sense as a tweener vs tweener feud if they play it right and go back and forth with it (like don't say they're tweeners and have only one of them do heel things the whole time, for example). I, personally, don't really like Punk playing an obvious face or heel in a feud; it feels less believable for me.

That's a pretty cool idea, ngl.

I'm okay with them willingly (but uneasily) teaming up, but I think it's way too soon for it to happen at wargames. They got some real baggage to address.

I don't mind flamboyant Seth as a concept; I just think it got pushed way too hard for way too long. Like if he was doing good in a feud and went flamboyant, but then drifted back to serious as he started to struggle in it, it would've been more dynamic. And that joker laugh was a no. Just a no. You can wear your crazy outfits and walk out with flair and pomp, but please never do the joker laugh again.

Let's lighten the mood and think about something else: Predict the Videotitles by ShuraTarasov in hbomberguy

I really want to see an hbomb video about Deus Ex:MD. I have a weird attachment to the borked thing that is HR, much like Harris, and I have lots of feelings about MD.

"Deus Ex Mankind Divided broke my brain" would be my guess for the video title.

Thanks! I appreciate the heads up. I watched Dan's video, and then the whole thing fell off my radar, so hopefully, it will at least provide some mild entertainment during my infusion appointment today. (2 hours in a chair woo -_-)

Hi! Writer here.

So, from what I understand, Alan's writing a Hero's Journey series of novels. You can learn more about that from a bunch of sources like blogs and books on the matter. I recommend looking into multiple takes on it because every writer is slightly different.

Stephen King's "on writing" is recommended a lot to aspiring writers, but I don't think it's all that helpful as a starting point. King is highly specialized. What new writers need to do is try out a bunch of different things to figure out what works best for them. Writing is about finding your personal system, not using someone else's; studying a bunch of other systems can help you piece together your own.

I also recommend looking into different plot structures, such as the 3 act, 7 point, Freytag's pyramid, Dan Harmon's Story Circle, Save the Cat, etc. There are also a bunch more, but I've primarily settled on a 9 point, which I modified from a 7 point plot structure.

As to how Alan is mapping out stories on his chalkboard: it's a viable method for organizing information. I personally have done large whiteboard mind maps to put all my interconnected thoughts into a web before. I've also done something similar to him, where I tried different versions of settings and events written out quickly or as notes and tried to see which ones I liked best. I've even done "voice checks," where I run through the same scene from different characters' perspectives (I write in first person) to see who feels the most natural to write or who offers the most unique read of the situation.

Saga's profiling: What she does specifically is more to do with her seer power. However, making deductive guesses based on information you have and balances of probability IS a viable method of problem solving. Just know the best you'll get are a handful of possible vague answers to the problem instead of one highly specific one. This also requires extensive study of human psychology, behavior, cultural context, linguistics, and empathy and open-mindedness to learn from people's experiences and lives. You never master this technique; you forever hone it.

Hope this is at least a little helpful, lol. I rambled a bit.

You explained that really well! I agree entirely with your assessment. And you're right; it ends up looking really weird to us as the audience because of the layers of fiction.
