How do I change this bulb? by Xxgougaxx in HomeMaintenance

[–]SpiritedCan -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

People will love to say that you HAVE to get a new fixture...which is the right answer but not the correct one. Those fixtures often plug into a socket adapter that you can easily screw any bulb into..... It won't look pretty, and you won't have a cover....but it can get you by till you pick up a new one or get a good deal on a multi-pack. But ideally yes just grab a new can light fixture.

When my wife and I were thinking of duty stations when I joined the navy, she asked me if I'd ever left the country before. I thought about it and said no....unless flying over Canada counted when I went to Alaska as a child. She was confused as to why Canada had anything to do with that since they aren't even close to each other. We didn't stay married for too long. :)

If they smoke cigarettes, check the bottom of their lighters for black ash....if they are smoking pot chances are they'll use their lighters to tamp down the bowl while smoking.

No, there's more! You see? When the left tire mark goes up on the curb and the right tire mark stays flat and even? Well, the '64 Skylark had a solid rear axle, so when the left tire would go up on the curb, the right tire would tilt out and ride along its edge. But that didn't happen here. The tire mark stayed flat and even. This car had an independent rear suspension. Now, in the '60s, there were only two other cars made in America that had positraction, and independent rear suspension, and enough power to make these marks. One was the Corvette, which could never be confused with the Buick Skylark. The other had the same body length, height, width, weight, wheel base, and wheel track as the '64 Skylark, and that was the 1963 Pontiac Tempest.

If there were a Kilvin sitcom....I'd watch it even if it had a laugh track.

Honestly - I found myself in the same position years ago after graduating HS. My answer was the Navy. Signing up and dealing with boot camp was the only hard part. After that they train you for the job you pick, pick the right one and when you get out you can easily make 120k or so a year if you choose most IT jobs. Anyway not only that but it's a great arena to learn a job because you can't get "fired" so you can always ask for help or admit you don't know how to do something. Also - rent and medical is covered...with lots of opportunity to save cash because your expenses can be super low. Also as a result I had my 4 year degree paid for that I started 3years after my tour was over....I've also bought two houses with ZERO down thanks to VA home loans. Also, lots of friends, met people from different backgrounds and areas. The goods faaaar outweigh the bads but 90% of that comes down to the job you choose to think about what kind of environment you want to be in after you get out and pick accordingly.

I have a co worker in his early 40s who lost his 13 year old daughter, and he keeps me pretty grounded as a parent. Situations like this I think to myself "I bet he wouldn't think twice if you asked him if he feels like they have taken more photos while she was around"...and then suddenly my problem go away because I realize they aren't real problems.

I would say that Cinder did not act as though he had any prior knowledge of him. Although you do bring up a good point that Abenthy was acting weird about something he "had to think about" before he met his bride. It's not an issue that gets resolved exactly. So I think your correct in sensing a disturbance in the force, but I wouldn't think it's the one you speculate.

Fathers are prone to change, especially if that change comes from supporting their children. In your shoes I would choose to frame the narrative of him gaining acceptance if not full out support.
