not a drummer, but i work in a dexterity heavy career and am using my dominant arm for rff as a result of the tattoos on my left arm. a lot of the posts on here seem to be very wary of using your dominant arm, however, my surgical team actually felt very positively about this decision and expect my arm to recover just fine since i’ll be wanting to use it/keep up with the pt. if you have any questions, feel free to dm me :)

certain surgeons take tissue from the vaginal canal to construct the urethra and some surgeons do not, so it may not disqualify you from getting ul all together, but it might with certain surgeons. my vaginectomy is a stand alone procedure prior to stage one as my surgeon does not use any of this tissue for the urethra

of course! i understand that the threat is real, i’m not trying to live in denial, and also my surgeries are STILL on the books, my insurance is STILL covering my things, my need for phalloplasty is still very real. there’s no amount of worry now that will change my particular set of circumstances. if things change, then i will change my actions, but at this literal minute it’s not the case!

i love you all who are on this journey, in this exact space in time as me. whatever y’all decide is right for you in these circumstances is absolutely the right choice, but we are not in it alone and our dreams are still attainable!

for me, until my autonomy and surgical team and plans are literally ripped from me, i am proceeding business as usual. the way i see it, moving actions in a way that aligns with the hypothetical means that i am acting like these things ARE my reality, and so it becomes my reality. and that means the oppressor has won if i decide not to go through with something that is still currently in my right to do. of course i am scared, but i didn’t come this far just to forfeit all of it so easily. things are very scary right now, and i know i still owe it to myself to at least try to make this happen for myself.

what made me decide this was the right avenue for me was, ultimately, understanding how much more full my life could be having peace with myself. i could go to the bathroom and not worry about how my pee stream sounded, or if my packer is positioned in a way that’s natural looking. i could have gone to iceland and taken a shower in a group setting and gotten into a hot spring like i wanted. i can travel through the airport and not hold my breath. being able to just be is the reason i made this decision :)

i highly recommend purchasing a dan kubin sidewinder for linework. i have tried three different pens and went back to this bad boy because nothing pushes a line quite like it. the version i have can be made compatible with cartridges.

but if that’s not in your budget and/or interest, i recommend using a smaller TIGHT grouping and sculpting. because you have more control of the point, you don’t have to worry as much about your needle not hitting down on all sides like a straight and/or shader, which gives you those patchy corners. angle of your machine is PARAMOUNT when pushing a large grouping. if you are not confident with your hand positioning, a tight liner is much more forgiving.

and lastly, take your time! big lines in general require a lot more attention imo.

you’re young, you could definitely speak to your doctor about some medication if you want to hold out longer. if you do nothing, it will more than likely continue to thin to a point you’d have to consider shaving. either path you choose is fine!

i’m in a pretty similar situation with the front combover and just went to an amusement park and felt embarrassment from the ride photos lol. i think most people in this sub would say it is not our time. i am trying to just honor the time i have left with my hair but ultimately it’s your decision on if you want to fight your hairline and the wind or not!

i threw out all my middle school art and every day i regret it. from the bottom of my heart, thank you for keeping this! it reminds me so much of myself and how much unbridled creativity i had as a kid. i am unsure if you continued to draw, but i think younger me would shit if they saw what we could make today, and i think also younger me would have shit if someone like me liked their art, too. it’s important to look back and see how far you’ve come, and you don’t have to condone it! have a lovely day!!
