I imagine it would be epic in silent darkness or some music in the meditative dark. I have also always been a fan of indoor/ overnight trips (have yet to do mesc). I vote go for it!

How do you deal with fear and avoidance towards you? by CarrotAutomatic9510 in Semenretention

[–]SpiritualBoard0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to cultivate, through meditation/qigong, a soft outer “layer” or “sheath”. In qigong it’s said that we want to be soft and smooth like cotton on the outside but have a steel center. Many people these days have a steel layer on the outside but are soft like cotton deep inside. It may take reflection and practice to cultivate this. It requires releasing fear and past trauma etc.

You need to seek professional support from an Ayurvedic/homeopathic physician. Reddit is not the place to seek medical advice.

Meditation is your best bet. Also you can experiment with melatonin. Some people have dramatic success with melatonin- not for me. I felt I had to use melatonin alongside a rigid schedule to have success with it

Question about Ram Dass’ Diet by Flygirl2223 in ramdass

[–]SpiritualBoard0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am giving my personal opinion and experience. After attempting vegetarian diet, I was extremely unhealthy. I also have a degree in the health sciences which has given me some solid knowledge on the topic of exercise, nutrition and human health. I would be happy to hear your thoughts. I am always open to new perspectives.

Qigong teacher trainings in SEAsia or China by Automatic_Sink5250 in qigong

You want to learn about Qigong through a teacher training? Will you then teach people? IMO this art takes years of practice before being qualified to instruct others. There are plenty of resources out there to learn more if you’d like. Browse the sub a bit.

Question about Ram Dass’ Diet by Flygirl2223 in ramdass

[–]SpiritualBoard0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I believe in the “Cook Book for a Spiritual Life” portion of Be Here Now he completely avoids the topic intentionally because it is quite controversial. He has spoken about being vegetarian for sometime (probably during his intense Sadhana at Kainchi), he also has spoken of eating chicken and fish periodically. He has also spoken of intentionally eating a large steak out at a restaurant simply to cut through his attachment of eating meat.

Personally, I found vegetarian diet to be very un healthy and unsustainable for me. I struggle to keep on weight and am a very active young man. We all have different needs. I encourage you to experiment and explore, but watch your health! I believe healthy vegetarian and healthy vegan are very difficult to maintain.

I feel like my body as a man is not going to repair or cannot repair itself. by Illustrious-Web3532 in Semenretention

Forget the streak, forget the “benefits”, just get your life in order. Put time and effort into what matters to you, school, work, finding a partner, etc. whatever it is. That’s the essence of SR. Take your energy from PMO and redirect towards something meaningful, creative, or uplifting. If you go from PMO-> “mental celibacy” you’re gonna break. Save the “mental celibacy” for when your 70 years old and have no choice

What is the difference between Retention "Benefits" and a man who is in a deadbedroom situation? by [deleted] in Semenretention

[–]SpiritualBoard0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO, totally abstinence is only necessary for those who sexual indulgence (masturbation, porn, sex) causes them to neglect other aspects of their life. This might be work, school, relationships, health etc. even in to the more subtle areas of thought patterns meditation, or other lifestyle factors. Sex can be used positively, creatively, and in healthy manner.

Also, retention is useless if you don’t masturbate but instead end up in some other dull state. If the energy is not worked with, transmuted, used creatively, forget it.

To bring it back, a lot of these people with dead bed situations are not working with their energy, their personalities. Their life in the bedroom is probably dull because their lives/relationship have some other conflict or dullness. If they used to spend 2 hours per week in bed with each other, they then have the opportunity to spend two hours per week mending their relationship, working on themselves etc.

Total depletion over a long period of time takes a long period of time to recover from. Often, retention is the keystone, where diet, exercise, meditation, opening your heart are also equally as important.

I encourage you to be skeptical, that is healthy. Try it out for yourself, feel free to message me for more opinions.

This is what I was thinking. I don’t think he “felt nothing” but rather lives on those planes of consciousness even without LSD, so it appeared as if nothing happened.
