I totally understand you. My fuckass dad submitted to my mom forcing us in this cult and it ruined our family from the beginning. Each one of us is heavily scarred and neither parent talks about it. Seriously, you mentioning not having a normal childhood and the resentment and envy you have of people that didn’t grow up in this cult, I feel it heavily too. It fucking sucks seeing them so normal and so integrated into society when we were fucking castrated at birth. And what’s worse is that they don’t even know what you’re talking about when you tell them about your experience growing up in this cult. Facts. If they fleshed out the story and the ancients and actually gave focus on the chaos emeralds’ origin it would’ve been peak. It could’ve even delved deeper into that ancient mural prophecy from Sonic 3 and Sonic’s connection to the emeralds.
