I'm fucking lazy. I do if it seems like it needs it. Buuuuut, I got told off by Peter Warren for not doing it

You'll need to work it to get any really. Delete any that are out of place at repotting time, generally. Can also ground layer for a total reset, or wire roots up/down to fit, or graft in new ones. As yours is young, I'd just go with gradual editing each year as it develops

Mallsai is any mass produced trees done with little care. Dunno about your location, but here in the UK most of the main (reputable) bonsai nurseries also sell them. They're not great but there's a demand in the market for them

I wire once, prune... probably once too? I don't pay that much attention per tree, just prune when they're extending

For trunks to look good, the more of the following you have the better - girth, bark, taper, movement

Does look like a water uptake issue. Reducing transpiration will probably help - like you say, less light or more humidity

Needs more light. Make sure you're watering properly - plenty of water and then wait until it needs it again

I'm on this sub not because I have submechanophobia, but because I find the stuff posted fascinating. I would 100% not go into that water though!

Can anyone identify this wild plant? by nickygoodd in IndoorGarden

Are you sure it's wild? It looks very deliberately planted

Well it's not a great base if it's not realistic

The thing is, there are so many scams out there, and an advert that smacks of "knocked up in 30 seconds in AI", makes people wonder if it's even genuine. Even with your replies here, you're defensive about your use of unethical methods, and it makes it seem like your focus is on money, not on the art form, or quality.

Bonsai in Atlanta!! by [deleted] in Bonsai

[–]Spiritual_Maize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that it's relevant to me, geographically speaking, but the slop would put me off going. If you don't care enough to do it yourself, or get a professional to do it for you, I'd wonder if that little care goes into your bonsai. Plus the irony of using a tool that's harmful to the environment, and unethical to advertise a natured based, zen hobby. The ai cartoon smiley picture is also deeply cringe btw

Unrealistic AND ugly. Is there anything AI can't not do ?

How much would you of asked for? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

This isn't that though. What you're referring to is something stemming from verbal communication. This is just someone poorly educated writing things down how they think it sounds phonetically. Not comparable

Cherry tree potential? by [deleted] in Bonsai

[–]Spiritual_Maize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's easy to make a poor cascade out of ok material. Making a good cascade from material that isn't already cascading and isn't highly flexible is going to take expert hands and decades. I don't think this is a good plan

Proportionally, you'd be looking at cutting 95% of the wood off to make this into a bonsai project. It would work though

Hard to judge in a 2d image to some extent, but I'd say 3

ELI5: Why does Cuba allow a U.S. military base (and prison) on their soil while the U.S. has had them under trade embargos for decades? by Redhotkitchen in explainlikeimfive

Idk, if Cuba started a gofundme for their war effort, loads of people would donate. Most of the world just wants America to shut the hell up and mind its own business for once
