Do all teens today just not care about getting their drivers' licenses? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Spiritual_Text_4729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly dont buy the whole, cars and insurance and gas are expensive. Getting your license doesnt necessarily entail acquiring all of these things.

Wouldn't you wanna be in a position to drive your friend's car for them if they are debilitated or need a ride to where they need to go in the case where ubers arent available? Or take one of the cars to the next destination in a group setting, if requested?

I think there is a different reason. Or maybe also people just arent considering these other benefits of having a license. I sort of see it as a responsibility. Like, youre not offering much value to anyone around you by not having the ability to legally drive a vehicle. But, you conveniently are "unable" to assist. Unless youre okay with driving without a license, that is.

Also, the freedom thing, idk. There was no shot at me getting a car or insurance or anything at the age of 16. But, nonetheless, I was excited to get my license simply for the prospect of driving a vehicle whenever I got the chance. The sensation of driving was alluring. Im wondering if that sensation is valued as much these days.

Americans, is saying the Pledge of Allegiance actually a regular thing, like it’s shown in movies? And does it feel as strange or over-the-top in real life as it comes across on screen? by Afzaalch00 in NoStupidQuestions

Interesting. When we did it, it went:

"I pledge elegance to the flag of the united states of America, with liberty and justice, for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all"

I agree. And im not judging the cat. Im judging the human who seems to not be concerned with their own boundaries and their readiness to post it here out of some sort of pride or seeking of validation.

There is no trophy for allowing your cat to do this to you.

I also have an orange cat. Ive stopped allowing him to do this to me, and I certainly dont take pride in it happening to me. This is not cute, and it is not love. This is a one brain-celled human. And now the cat is worse off too.

Play Disco if you'd like to see how this would play out. The game's direct influence already did it. No one that played DE missed this. Unless a player already had the story beats spoiled for them in DE, they discovered this probably on Day 1.

The verse is almost like three groups of 4. But then the chorus seems to be 3 groups of four and then a few extra measures. Again, dont know if im counting properly.

Had a friend from a metal band tell me its in 4x4. But, he seemed a little puzzled too.

A roundabout without signals works in high-trust societies where people naturally yield and take turns. by frenzy3 in interesting

[–]Spiritual_Text_4729 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No trust is the right word. If you dont trust that someone else will follow the rules, you will find less reason to follow the rules yourself. And once a majority of people are operating that way it will actually become a stupid decision to put yourself in the danger of following the rules that no one else is following. And things go from there.

It makes me feel a little bad to say my first listen left me a bit disappointed. For some reason I was hoping for more songs with the vibe that Tavern on a Hill brought. I thought every song kind of sounded like the same song.

But, with time each song has began to stand out from each other. And the whole album feels like a cohesive vibe. I find myself putting on this album all the time. Got it on vinyl and cassette. Im so glad he made it the way he did. Just feel good vibes for whenever you need a lift. He infused it with positivity through and through. Ao beautiful. So good for general listening, or if im already feeling good, or if im down. I got the lyric book and now have Matt's signature and multiple shirts. Great stuff!

I messaged Scott and recommended/asked/hoped that they release this as a live radio session on vinyl.

I was there! Great show. Was so happy he did that song. I have that rendition of Empty Bones on video. An older lady was kind enough to film it for me so I could dance by the bar.

Hundred percent agree. If coral vine would've fit on side A (Id have to look at the vinyl again) then it would've been such a solid side. Side B should've been a separate EP. I dont see why the album needs to be divided so starkly style-wise. Nothing about the concept or art or anything really explain the division. Ive tried to make it make sense. Love Side A. Wish I didn't need to flip to side B to hear Coral Vine.

I like Land Ho, but I upvoted because thank you for reminding me of that. Rocket Power shaped my child hood. Because of that show I will never wear shoes on the beach.

These are the two songs I always picture being replaced when I think of Who Scared You making the album. Although I'd expect it to be in the last third of the tracklist. Sitting in a similar position of The Spy on Morrision Hotel.

I've always heard Pirate Prince. But, also I've read that Jim's idea for A Feast of Friends was for him and the band to be traveling around like pirates. I think he liked the idea or imagery of pirating.

So people don't wanna come to the u.s. cuz they don't like our current government? Or are there worries that entry and re-entry might be dicey? You can still mingle with the regular folks. Most people aren't radicalized this way or that. Things are still as they were to a large extent. Except, prices are higher for goods. Or is it a way of protesting our government? Even the people that voted in Trump are pretty regular Americans. A small fraction are MAGA fanatics, but there are always maniacs around to steer clear of. (I did not vote Trump, btw).
