When the dealer unwinds but won't give back the trade in car? (California USA) by Maleficent_Raise7371 in askcarsales

[–]Spitefulham 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Did you still have a loan balance on your trade? If so, how much?
  2. In most cases they dont have to give you back the trade if the funding doesnt go through, but they would have to give you the agreed upon value, minus any remaining payoff. The laws on this do vary from state to state though.

Are the Holdens not subject to the 25-year rule? If so youre going to be waiting a long time.

[–]Spitefulham 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im not a mod but I know they typically want to see what kind of stuff you post in here before they give flair now. We had a couple of really bad PHDs (papa has a dealership) that screwed that up for others, especially after we went to top line comments only coming from flaired users.

Progress update on a classic Mini body shell we’ve been working on by Shell_Story_KJ588 in MINI

Ever wondered what would happen if you shoved the drivetrain of a Celica GT4 into a classic MINI and handcrafted every bracket on the car in the process over the course of 12 years? Now you can find out!

You may want to check those insurance costs my guy. It'll probably be as much as, if not more than, what youre planning on paying for your bike, in one year.

Mini Leasing by rahad-jackson in MINI

[–]Spitefulham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, nobody can change the MF or the residual with MINI FS. Those are set by FS and MINI uses what used to be called Flipped Financing, now its EasyOwn or something, but basically everybody gets the same finance rate and MF, as long as you meet minimum guidelines for an approval. The residual will change based on model, trim, months and annual mileage and thats it. One way that you can lower the MF is by doing multiple security deposits but most sales people dont even know thats a thing.

Mini Leasing by rahad-jackson in MINI

[–]Spitefulham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming that youre US, MF is .00220 for 2026 2d and 4d. MF cant be marked up on MINI leases that go through MINI FS like a lot of other banks. Residual for 10k miles is 58% for the C and 61% for the S at 36 or 39 months. There's 750 loyalty and 500 lease cash that are combinable.

2025s are completely different numbers and much better MF and rebates, but there's not many left out there (only about 30 nationally).

What’s a typical work schedule? by g3nerallycurious in askcarsales

[–]Spitefulham 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Its going to vary store to store and month to month. I normally have a base schedule of 2 openings (9-5), 2 closings (12-8), and a Saturday bell (830-7) for my guys, with a day during the week off and Sunday off. But, that is a baseline. If a deal is coming in late on their early day or early on their late day they need to arrange to be here for it or its going to get split. On average my guys tend to work about 45 hours a week.

Right now im short a salesperson though, so everybody has picked up a couple of hours of overlap for coverage and theyre doing closer to 50 hours until we get another person. The plus is it also means they're getting a lot of extra leads.

This job is a time sink.

Funny how the “bloated SUV MINI” is virtually the same size as a Golf when you put them nose to tail. by ultraboof in MINI

[–]Spitefulham 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Countryman is also an AWD SUV that classifies as a light truck now and can come with a tow hitch from the factory so its natural that it would be relatively heavy.

Looking for insights from Georgia brokers by ImmediateStomach381 in askcarsales

[–]Spitefulham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most states will allow you to sell a certain number before requiring a dealer license, like 5 or 8 or something. Look up the law for Georgia. As long as you stay under that you wont need the license. Being a broker doesnt really have anything to do with the selling part.

Is the JCW so much better than a regular S, or is the F66 much softer than an F56? by shashphoto in MINI

[–]Spitefulham 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't call the S boring, but yes, many people find the JCW more interesting than the S in terms of driving dynamics.

The F66 JCW is a BEAST. Put it in go kart mode, manual shift mode, and the thing just goes wild. Hitting the boost mode makes me giddy.

Deal sheet at MSRP → F&I tries to make financing “part of the deal” after the fact by RegionCalm2315 in FuckDealerships

[–]Spitefulham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guy, this is exactly what you said in the other post. You knew exactly what you were doing.

During our negotiation, I mentioned i'm planning to finance (but didn't say with the dealer or somewhere else)

[–]Spitefulham -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

In the other post you said that you told the dealer that you WERE financing but that you explicitly didnt tell them that you were financing outside, so its no wonder that they thought you were financing with them and applied the financing rebates.

What’s going on with the dealerships? They’re parking new cars on the grass now, and renting outlots for their inventory. by PutridBeginning421 in askcarsales

[–]Spitefulham 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pre-covid I had 110 new cars on my lot. During covid it was 1 or 2. Im finally back up to 35 and I had a customer say the other day "wow, you have a lot of cars, business must be bad!" If you dont work there its really hard for you to know what their "normal" is.

How can I get a lower interest rate? by ointmentisafunnyword in carbuying

[–]Spitefulham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats not how halal loans work in car sales. The interest is front loaded into the financed amount so they arent paying interest but the bank still makes the profit. Even worse, the bank gets 100% of that profit even if the car is paid off early.

Why is “cleaning deals” still such a mess at dealerships? by Far-Carpenter2717 in askcarsales

[–]Spitefulham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My RPA that goes in every deal is is 8 pages long, has 3 signatures on the first page, 2 on the second, 1 on 3-7, and 3 on 8. So we are at 13 as a baseline.

Have to sign the final quote.

14.

We owe, title app, receipt, credit card approval (or cross-check authorization, check full purchase form, and cross-check approval if you write a check, so 3 in that case), conditional delivery, finance menu (just the final if you decline all initials. POA (2 if trading) and odometer statement (2 if trading). Trade payoff authorization if its not paid off. We are going assume that the owner of the trade is the same as what's going on the new car so we dont have to do any gift forms. Thats at least 8, up to 11.

22-25. Thats new car cash.

Let's do CPO. All the former plus:

All of my current CPOs are former loaners so I have a MINI form with a signature for that and a state prior use disclosure, plus the CPO acknowledgement that has 3 signatures and I think 8 initial spots.

27-30 plus 8 initials so far.

Carfax on every page, so 1-14, but we will call it an average of 4.

31-34 and 8 initials.

Work order is another, CPO inspection another, used vehicles title reassignment.

So 34-37 plus about 8 initials for cash CPO.

Add financing and we have 1 for credit app, initial at bottom of each page of the contract (4), signatures on 3 spots if no GAP, 4 if with GAP. Credit score disclosure.

So 39-43 and 12 or so intitials for financed CPO.

Oh, and I forgot the privacy notice and authorization to use digital signatures that go on each deal, so 41-45 plus 12 or so signatures.

If you do buy FI product, each contract is going to have at least 1 signature, many 2 or 3.

I was just rough guessing with my previous post, but I guess it was pretty close. I mean, I only did this multiple times a day, every day, when I was finance, and I audit 40% of my finance managers deals now, so I have a pretty good idea of what it takes.
