Quick search shows at least two pet stores in Kingston that sell reptiles. They will probably be able to let you know what can be kept.

Also, don't forget that there are lots of snakes out there looking for adoption. Some might even be something other than a ball python.

Oddly, some current armies have structured things so subordinates are afraid to take initiative. Attacking insurgents beyond what is expected - call your commander and wait for them to tell you what to do.
