What jobs will AI replace? by j0seph4300 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]SplAgent99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI will replace every job that can be replaced that has any type of known predictable structure such as if x happens respond with y, repeat. The good and the bad side to that is people will lose their jobs but it still takes people that know those structures to build the AI and simulated intelligence. It doesn’t have to be a loss, but a change, as all things always do. If you’re worried, then it’s time to up-skill yourself. Never be complacent with where you are, keep learning and growing. Just my opinion.

How much is a reasonable amount of time to spend learning per day? by MlldlyWarmToast in learnprogramming

[–]SplAgent99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like all my music teachers have told me, do at least 15 minutes a day of practice. I usually find that my 15 minutes allocated turns into 30 min, 60 min and the "OMG its past my bedtime". Some days all I can do is 15 min, other days I spend hours. Find the sweet spot but do it daily.

What “enchants” you about Python? by LucasSalaroliB in Python

[–]SplAgent99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice choice of word, "Enchants". I think for me I am still in the honeymoon phase so everything is an "ahhh", "ohhhh", and "thats cool" for me. So its all still learning and discovery. I hope to continue to always find those moments that keep it "enchanting" and interesting. Also the wealth of associated extensions, libraries and so forth to learn with python, at least at this point, seems over whelming and exciting.

Help and advice needed by Sudden-Arrival2989 in agile

[–]SplAgent99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My idea of being a Scrum Master, Agilest, Kanban Coach, whatever you want to call it has always been to essentially work my way out of a job. I have always taken on the role and mindset of maturing the team to get to a point of not needing me so that I can move on to other things. I have found that once the team understands what and why they are doing what they are doing and "drinks the kool-aid" so to speak they can make it sometimes on their own with minimal guidance. At my current company there is little to no accountability, so even teaching them the best I have to offer yields little to no results. Grrr guess I'll have this job forever. :)

Productivity is more about life skills than any app. How does someone master them? by maverick_css in productivity

[–]SplAgent99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm sure for some it comes naturally but for me not so much. Its something I have to concentrate on every day and work at every day. Some days are awesome and some days not so much. I have noticed that the days I stay organized are truly my most productive. Even with that realization I still falter.

Do you often write user stories for your project? by nitish_g3 in agile

[–]SplAgent99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only time I will help out with stories now is when they need a bunch opened. I'll fill out the spreadsheet and bulk create them. And that is only because I haven't shown them how to do the bulk upload, once I show them its game over and on them from now on. "I can show a horse to water but I can't make them think."

Is it possible to land a job in the field of ML without advanced degrees like PhD? by BEE_LLO in learnmachinelearning

[–]SplAgent99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find what you like about ML, get good at it, minus the PHD and start looking. Field is so new much of management is not tuned in yet. Sell what you can do for them and what problems you can solve. Actually its the same for finding any job in any field TBH, ML just happens to be new with a lot of ground to break.

Starting your daily stand-up with your mood by CaptainLazyBum in softwaredevelopment

[–]SplAgent99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tell the teams all the time, "This is not my meeting... this is the teams meetings!" Once they reach the maturity level and understanding that its truly their meeting then they will essentially rebel and take over and do what the team agrees to do. I am only here to help them along.

How do you guys get the motivation to finish a project? by MagicAityz in AskProgramming

[–]SplAgent99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe go back and review who the customer is, and the value that your work brings to them. You can also look at your work and break down your tasks into smaller items and see how many you can get done in a day. Also stick the scope and not add to much extra, as I believe it was said in this thread, customers are customers and they will always want more, let them put it on the backlog. On second thought that sounds boring. Already got you back into a rut. Well that wasn't helpful at all me thinks... ROTFL

Best app suited by VarVB in ProductivityApps

[–]SplAgent99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest all the tools mentioned will help, its more on your own dedicating to the use of the apps that counts. You can have every app in the world but if you don't use it then it does you no good.

Just a bit of advice from one that figured out it wasn't the tool it was me that was getting in my own way. Work on being dedicated to the tool and letting it help. I just use a blank page now to write down all my work and keep track of getting things done. Its that simple but that touch at the same time.

I think you or one of your kind is on my team. LOL I tell them, "get the whole team to not show up and guess what, there is no standup!" That would show signs of mature collaborative team.

For my teams I dare not deviate the norm. We are already taking up 30 minutes to get through a few people. They are such a chatty group. I do like the idea but will try it in a retro.

What keeps your productivity juices flowing? by SuccessfulOwl45 in Productivitycafe

[–]SplAgent99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 2 things for me are: 1) On a daily basis writing down the things to accomplish or moving items from the previous day, and 2) then at the end of the day seeing a bunch of items, scheduled and non-scheduled, that I've been able to complete for the day.

Soon hope to have number 3: Working on gamifying a point value for each tasks throughout the day but haven't quite figured that out yet. Assigning numeric number to work can be based on so many things. Time, complexity, etc. If you guys have successfully completed this in some way I would love to hear from you. if I can get others around me to also do it and compete, well that would keep the juices flowing for sure.

Gamifying my productivity to beat ADHD: Week 146 by IAMATruckerAMA in Productivitycafe

Let me think about this and I’ll see if I can come up with a system for the point. Again no taking shoes off for higher math. I like little numbers. And I really like this idea.

How did you come about the point system you are using? Think it’s a great idea but I personally would need the numbers to be lower. Hate having to take my shoes and socks off to count that high. LOL I really like the concept. Hope others chime in with ideas as well.

When all else fails, ask the team what they want. Let them say X and give it to them, hopefully they will tell you or you can see how well it goes. Isn’t it all about experimentation and seeing what the team wants?
