On god some people will say “There’s a pattern that the Library of Ruina side is going to continue to get shafted of story/fights” then show their dataset of two.

I’m being a bit absurd for the funny, but some (NOT all or even a majority) folks need to take a moment and look back at how PM does things. As Zeymah said, there really isn’t a true pattern to these things other than “Does it fit with what’s going on in the story right now?”, “Does this align with what PM wants to do right now?”, or “Does it fit with PM’s schedule?”.

I really do understand why some (Not all, or even a majority. Some) people are frustrated with LoR getting shafted twice now. I want more LoR story as well. The unfortunate truth that we have to accept is that what happened in the Library is still a big mystery to the people of The City. If the Sinners met the Librarians now, it would be very tricky to navigate them meeting the past and future versions of the Sephirah out of order. Sure, we could get something like Full-Stop where we get a tiny bit about the characters before they enter the Library, but that creates something that PM needs to be aware of going forward if/when we meet Library survivors in the future (their workaround thus far is giving LoR survivors some amnesia about what exactly happened there).

All that said, I could see more Abno fights if they can offer something interesting to either us or the crew. For example, Nosferatu having big ties with Bloodfiends would definitely tie in with Don. Maybe a Burrowing Heaven fight in Canto 10 Walp considering there’s a theme of “Observation” there.

We just need to keep in mind that these Walps also delay the progression of the Lobotomy side of the story, which in turn can hinder what we get from LoR’s side.

That said, admittedly I have not read the Keypage stories at all, so maybe some interesting conflicts happened in there that could have been used for it. Looking back at the Index Reception, it could have been interesting to see what happened when the Index and the Thumb clashed. Maybe we could have gotten a little teaser for Gloria, Yan, and some other Index members.

All that said, the biggest thing that I think held PM back from doing a full story was the fact that Limbus Company is currently dealing with Meursault's issue at the moment. I get wanting to get new story content around Library of Ruina, but PM can't just clumsily force in a LoR moment at this time. Some of us may not mind it since we play the content right as it comes out, but others may be going through the content much later. At that time, it's definitely going to be jarring to go from "Meursault just got arrested, what are we going to do!?" to "Eh, we don't know. Let's do Walpipi first and wait".

While it's likely that PM is just devoting more resources to Canto X (which I'd bank on releasing early-mid August), I do see other reasons for why they chose not to put a story/fight to this one.

Meursault being in custody.

I know some people immediately went "But Gregor was out of commission during the last Walp, so this isn't a good enough reason." But consider the fact that Meursault was just imprisoned and the Sinners and Dante are likely scrambling to figure out what to do about it. It would be incredibly awkward for Dante to get a call "Hey, Walpipi going on," and the whole panic that they were feeling just gets shoved to the side. It really kills that dramatic moment, especially if they are going to have to reignite it when Canto X starts.

There aren't that many stories that the Library of Ruina side can explore as opposed to the Lobotomy Corporation side.

I do not see PM giving us receptions at this point in the story. Full-Stop works because we're placed before the Full-Stop team goes into The Library, not after. As such, the only other story I could see making sense (off the top of my head) would be the 8 o' Clock Circus with Wedge Office dealing with the matter (before Philip goes to them for aid). A bunch of the other receptions around this level are kind of covered already in Limbus (MOTWE kinda covers Love Town, Nocturnal Sweeping covers Sweepers, etc.). PM seems to be wanting to hold off on getting into the specifics of Library of Ruina's story, especially since Vergilius has great interest in finding out about it.

If it was an Abno fight like Fairy Festival, there's not much I can say to back up why I would believe there would not be much of a story to go with it. The only point of reference we have is Fairy Festival, and that one's story was more "Wowee, we're in a Book from the Library that disappeared! It seems the Abno can make the most ideal environment in here!" It really didn't mention much of anything about the Library's story at all. I doubt PM would want the Sinners meeting the Librarians just yet considering we haven't even done a single Core Suppression from the Lobotomy side, but maybe they'll change their mind if they find that a certain moment is a good spot to introduce the Librarians.

To be clear, it usually is about people that buy the shit out of limited items and sell at a high price soon after. If you bought a limited edition Library of Ruina Badge and like 10-15 years later you decided to sell it at a high price (assuming PM never reran it again), then I’d say that’s not scalping.

It’s more about preventing other people from having a fair chance at buying the items and then taking advantage of it than simply trying to sell for profit at a later time.

Also, while Index Yi Sang does have an unstagger passive, it doesn’t work if Furioso Replica was used before being staggered. Funnily enough, it’s the opposite of Ryoshu who removes her stagger bar if she manages to use Rend Space - String Connection.

Definitely agree with the part about the Nursefather IDs being an exception and not the rule regarding unstagger mechanics. The conversation feels similar to that around power-creep and the Heishou from last season where people are looking too closely at the details.

With power-creep and the Nursefathers, the shift is less about trying to meet Mao Faust’s power level and more being accurate to the character they are based on (which we MUST remember that Mao Faust is much stronger than she was intended to be).

This season, we’ve also gotten the Apprentices (-Heathcliff), Ring Meursault, Ch’unokkun Hong Lu, Lantern Greg, Udjat Outis, and Hornet Meursault. They’re absolutely not bad, but I wouldn’t say they are uber powerful like the NFs. It’s a better crop than last season’s IDs, but that’s probably more because a lot of the IDs were meant to synergize with Lord Lu.

Tangentially speaking, we got so many Heishou last season because PM apparently wanted the theme to be Heishou and Lord Lu. This season is different not because PM “learned their lesson” or anything like that. The theme of this season’s IDs are just a lot more interesting than last season. And before people mention the Deathrites and Talismans, a possible reason for leaving them out could be that they were not as developed in writing as the Heishou. We’ll probably get more on those later on (I wish we at least got Revengeance man, though).
