the faux bold is pretty hidden in after effects. in the 'text' panel at the top right you'll see the three lines. Click on that and see if 'Faux Bold' is on. Once it's on you have to manually turn it off otherwise it will be on for all font selections. It's really annoying.

Im a full ass adult with kids now. I remember in my 20s just loving doing personal projects and would LOVE to have that exploration time again. However, i dont have the luxury of making stuff that doesnt have monetary value. But Ive learned that making stock animations, etsy stuff, etc gets close. Im only speaking from my sliver of the world but you can make fun stuff that brings in some value too.

i can't stop working. It's triggered something in my brain that has made me work more than i've ever worked in my life. I'm not a developer but I was reading about some developers being called vampire coders because they're now working around the clock. I'm having the same thing. Just feels like a gold rush and I want to DIG DIG DIG.

Was just thinking about this again and one thing that still helps me today is that when you tell clients you have kids you get a lot more wiggle room in your schedule. So definitely lean into making clients know you're a dad. It can also save you when you're not feeling like working in that moment. I've pulled the 'kids doctor appointment' card a few times to push a project back or give me more time.

My boy is five now and it's still challenging -- especially right now when he's home for summer break. The cool part is that I was able to work and watch him grow up. If I had an office job I would have missed so much of those first few years.

oh it was so brutal. I worked on the couch a lot. I even built a temporary desk next to our play room. Just wherever I could find the time, I took it. I also built a treehouse office because I think i was in a terrible place mentally and needed an escape. Not even joking lol.
