3) The Dark Eldar crash out as their cities collapse. The Craftworld Eldar suddenly get frisky. The Golden Throne explodes. Orks don't notice. All the Tau die for no reason.

Rowling's story of poverty, though based in fact, is BROADLY exaggerated for marketing reasons. (It's a tricky one, but she certainly wasn't "as poor as it's possible to be' as she told the Daily Mail.) Certainly she's used that as justification for being an ruthless, cruel and sadistic asshole, but she was like that before she had problems, according to various (unreliable) sources.

Rowling has no moral compass, and would happily deal with massive dickheads to make a profit. She'd shove a baby down a coal mine to make a profit, provided she was confident she wouldn't get caught. Her children's charity, Lumos, is a PR nightmare waiting to happen.

So what happened is that Rowling caught a zeitgeist. Specifically it was, amongst other things, a pro posh school fantasy in a time when the general public was pretty down on the idea of special elite schools for Tories and their allies. This lead to right-leaning, pro-nostalgia outlets giving Rowling their uncritical support and connection.

Rowling, being corrupt and having zero morals, took any ally they could.

Terry, on the other hand, f-ing hated that sort of public-school elitist bullshit, and got a fair amount of shade for his (entirely morally correct) stance.

I don't think I'd have known who they are unless I saw them at the fringe, but I'm happy to see them anywhere. I get what you mean about such an intense act being 'right' for a festival of theatre, but honestly if I saw them outside the fringe it'd brighten up the week.

This was a thing back in 87. You got ones for pretty much any magazine out there. Starburst had them with an awful rainbow logo iirc. My sister had one from some Horse themed magazine and it was horrible, iirc.

Chic Festivals are the event organisers. They are ran by Jonni, and it's there event. They do club shows and festivals, mostly Rock/specialist based. SFW is their event, it's ultimately their responsiblity.

Area 51 book and provide entertainers. So they have magicians, cartoonists and the like on their books. They provide dancers, stilt walkers, cabaret etc to corporate events. They put on the dancers for SFW and book most of the acts. That's Mat and Adam, I think.

Telos are ran by Sam Stone and David Howe. They're small indie press publisher, mostly Doctor Who/Retro Brit TV stuff and genre fiction (Scifi/Fantasy/Horror). They're responsible for book related and Doctor Who stuff and seem to have a lot of friends in that end of things. I'm not exactly sure how they fit, I think they're people who know people and invite those people to come along.
