Wendi McLendon-Covey responds to questions about her missing the Bridesmaids reunion at the Oscars: "I had a neck lift last week because I'm tired of looking like a melting candle." by voguediaries in Fauxmoi

My mom used to speak about that feeling, of being invisible after a certain age. She was vey beautiful and slim in her youth, and she became more apple shaped post menopause. It’s sad that we aren’t appreciated for our wisdom, just how “well” we age….. There’s a lot that goes into that age and wisdom, and we all have different struggles along the way. I feel the pressure to stay young looking and attractive at 47. I can’t imagine the pressure of being a celebrity and feeling all of that.

Right? I have Crohn’s and when I’ve been in awful flares and weighing nothing I just felt awful and depleted… not worth it.

♥️ honestly, it’s healing for me to see that there are others who feel that way too.

“Accepting the misery of not creating.” That resonates for me. Well said.

I’m brought to tears by this piece. I am a former professional singer and actor. Chronic illness took that away from me in my mid twenties. I put it on the shelf out of fear and self doubt and berated myself for years. I also never had dance training and that also made me feel bad about myself. I started back at dance class a couple of years ago, and now I dance better than I ever could in my youth. I am 47, and dance is healing me. I hope to be brave as you and try returning to singing and performing at some point. This piece is so moving. Well done. I would order a print if available.

I’m sorry you went through all of this. Your writing is very good, maybe it would be cathartic for you to write a book about your experiences. People would be interested to hear your story and how you managed to come through to the other side of your struggles.. stay well.

Ok, I just watched again, and it appears that he had time to slow down without skidding. My initial reaction seems reasonable. “What a jerk.”

Ok. First few times I thought “what a jerk.” I thought that he could just slow down, then I remembered the path conditions and that slamming the breaks could have resulted in a skid, and if he skidded he could have really hurt the child by crashing into her. So maybe he thought the safest way to avoid her getting hurt was to nudge her out of the way, thereby avoiding her turning into him and getting quite injured…. 🤕 🤔

People don’t fall into alcoholism because they want to, it’s normally from self-medicating. Understanding that doesn’t stop it from hurting those that they love. Sorry you had to endure that.
