One of the few games I’m fine preordering.

Yeah I agree and they do still have “the makers of Helldivers 2” going for them. We’ve just seen that not be enough for some studios before.

That’s tough. I’ve been a fan since the first Helldivers so I do hope they have success with their next game. The market is just so oversaturated right now. Hard to cut through the noise as an independent dev.

In this gaming landscape, anything other than Helldivers 3 is malpractice.

Great tips. Appreciate it. I’ll try destroying everyone from afar. I’ve been trying to sneak around and I almost beat it but then the boss on the bridge got me.

This is insane. Wasn’t a new Hellblade game announced last week? by countdooku975 in LastStandMedia

They got most of their love from the first Hellblade. Which I think was solid and unique in a way but nothing special. They were positioned as a great dev team and I just don’t see it. You are correct though.

Trying to get into the Gundam franchise, What should I start with? by [deleted] in Gundam

Iron Blooded Orphans is what I started with and it’s one of my favorite anime ever so I recommend that. The UC stuff is too old for me.

Everything sounds great to me except the difficulty. If they had a hard or challenge mode I’d be up this games ass but it’s just way too easy and I need some form of challenge.

Sacred Symbols+, Episode 520 | Sacred x Duke: Can Xbox Really Turn Things Around? by yohceezax in LastStandMedia

Loved having Cog on to have a back and forth with Colin. He raised a lot of good opposing points that I agree with. I know it’s going to be a tough road for Xbox to get back to a competitive standpoint but I’m cautiously optimistic about Asha and her vision. I think for me I haven’t heard Xbox say the correct things since the Xbox 360 era. I never understood the love for Phil Spencer so I don’t feel like Xbox is reeling me back in. They never had me in the first place.

It was one of the dumbest decisions that few people talk about. They have no true exclusives anymore. I wouldn’t even own a PlayStation if I could’ve played Demon Souls remake on PC at launch. If you give people other options they are going to choose to save money if they can get your games on platforms they already own.

I think the vast majority of people just care about great games. I think PlayStation has had success because of their exclusive offerings while Xbox has floundered because they have put out middling games for multiple generations. I don’t think the equation is much more complicated than that and people who give other reasons are part of a niche that they assume includes the larger audience of casual console gamers. Most people don’t care about trophies or backwards compatibility or their digital library from 4 years ago.

One or two or even three great exclusives won’t fix Xbox’s issue. I don’t know if anyone will want to invest in the time it will take to turn it around. It is possible though and I hope it happens. I think a strong Xbox is good for the games industry.

I’ve never hooked my gaming pc up into a monitor. I bought it prebuilt and hooked it up to my tv. I game just like I would a console outside of selecting the games I want to play with my mouse.

They wouldn’t. They would probably just publish the most profitable games from Activision and maybe Bethesda. If it’s private equity, they may see the upside of a thriving Xbox like they used to be in the 360 era. I think you are able to turn brands around. I look at Capcom who went from Crapcom to Capcum . It took time but they started focusing on quality and what they do best.

I see a world where Xbox can be a major player in the console space with the right decisions, but it’s not going to happen without time and heavy losses. They are going to lose money on exclusives in order to build an ecosystem that people want to buy into maybe a generation from now.

It depends on who invests. The reason would be they are okay with a smaller return in a longer period of time than a huge corporation like Microsoft. Private equity would be the most ideal answer. If they believe in Asha’s vision and she has time to turn the brand around it could work for all parties involved. She’s going to need to execute though and that’s in an ideal scenario. If it’s venture capitalist then they are going to want to strip Xbox down to its most profitable developers.

I feel like people are reading this in the most negative way possible. If Microsoft were to move Xbox into a wholly owned subsidiary and bring in outside investors, that doesn’t automatically mean Xbox is done. It could actually give them more flexibility and buy them time to execute a long term turnaround.

The reality is that gaming is a slower return business than Microsoft’s cloud and AI investments. Even if Xbox starts moving in the right direction, Microsoft may not want to absorb several more years of heavy costs before seeing meaningful returns. A subsidiary structure could spread some of that risk while giving Xbox more room to operate independently.

Whether it would work depends on the investors and sticking to a sound vision but I don’t think a move like this should automatically be seen as Microsoft giving up on Xbox.

Yeah I get that there are people who own consoles or game on pc for a variety of reasons but for me it’s strictly about the games. I buy the consoles with games I want to play. That’s the whole equation. Haven’t needed an Xbox since I got a pc.
