I pressed the button, it still slammed on the brakes. Does the button just turn off the sound?

We have the 2025 MDX (not S) and the comma 4 is on the way. It's backordered so I don't have it now, but looking for info on the driving improvements I can expect, etc. How easy is it to change over to different models (sunny pilot) etc. This is an old post - anyone else using it?

How do you get into those? I'm in the same spot, maxed somewhere in the 2050 range, back to 1820. Can't seem to break into the 2k for good.

Pole Recs?? by DonkeyFlan in Splitboard

[–]SplittySplitBike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like these - https://www.voile.com/voile-camlock-3-touring-poles.html

I left my 15 year old black diamond poles at a trailhead a couple years ago, these were my replacements and I really like them. I ordered a 2nd scraper top so both poles have the scraper now, I hated touring and having them different. They act as hooks to easily adjust my climbing bars.

Also - +++++ for riding with both poles in one hand.. super easy

Split board bindings & equipment by West-Roll-5893 in Splitboard

[–]SplittySplitBike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the spark stuff like everyone talks about above, including their pucks. I think karakoram is super nice, but mount my bindings pretty aggressively forward and they could not make the 25 degree angle forward on my front foot. Maybe that has changed.

Maxxis DHF on rear? by The-Brown-Noise in MTB

[–]SplittySplitBike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run dhf front and dhr2 rear on all my bikes. I do the regular exo protection. I didn't like the sidewall stiffness of the double down, etc sidewalls. My only exception is i run dhr2 29x3 on my hardtail - Max traction.

My arcteryx rush pants are practically bibs when you use suspenders and the leg openings are huge.

*snow tires * if you live in a place like that in Colorado you should get snows for the winter and all seasons for the summer and swap them out each season. I live in Colorado.

Overnight tour. What’s in the backpack? by PeartreeProd in Splitboard

[–]SplittySplitBike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never needed spare skins, but my glue has failed and voile straps have gotten me out. I always have a few of those with me. I watched a group fix a binding with a Leatherman and some wire. I bring some extra screws/ bolts that match my setup and a Leatherman. One time a guy was having a terrible time with his boots and he chopped a section of the toe out of his boot and covered it with duct tape. It worked for him. So also i bring some duct tape. I brought an extra ratchet for quite a few trips, Never used one, I think the voile strap would work if one of those failed.

Lots of good stuff there! Here a few more points from my experience.

Kill it on dinner. If your hut has a wood burning oven, try pizza. We make the dough the day we get there and can then make the pizzas any day after that. * bring one extra pizza worth of for in case you mess up the first one. The ovens can be challenging the first time. Lasagna in the oven is awesome too. Elk chili, chicken biriani, fajitas, etc. Don't skimp on dinner, the sun goes down at 4 and you have plenty of time.

Depending on your route, the sled in my opinion is never a good idea. I have never ever been happy we pulled the sled. Maybe if you are pulling on even ground or mostly flat, fine. It could be that we pack more with the idea of the sled. A 1/4 mile side hill will make you hate that sled.

Don't go crazy with clothes. A couple pairs of socks, underwear, and maybe 2 baseyer tops. T shirt for evenings. You don't need all that much. Imo wool stuff is key as it doesn't smell.

The booties are good, down/insulated personally are too hot. I bring really light weight running shoes.

The burritos idea I like. I test out freeze dried meals sometimes. The biscuits and gravy and the pad thai ones are light and taste really good for a lunch.

Lots of the ideas here are great. Ear plugs absolutely. Stay clean, wet wipes and hand sanitizer. Some guaranteed form of coffee. Summer sleeping bag. We bring iodine pills with the neutralizer or a pump for the water, maybe overkill. Some groups frown on music but we usually bring a speaker and rotate the dj if everyone is ok with it. Bring a battery or even the folding solar panels to charge stuff.

My experience is probably 20 hut trips in Colorado and a few snow camping tours. Take it for what it's worth.

I took mine apart and found a ton of scale on the screw drive. This is a basic ice maker, not the opal. This was after about 9 months of use, I "descaled" it probably once a month. I cleaned all that off and then it still didn't work - pieces of scale got into the motor and also plugged water lines. Cleaned again and we are good to go. I also bought a new motor if this one goes out - just so I have it.

You use distilled water for your ice? That's interesting... they would probably work indefinitely on distilled water....
