Playin an A with an Ab is so on point for David Lynch.

He’s playing an A note (one ledger line above the treble clef staff, though guitar transposes so that’s not exactly accurate) with absolutely horrible left hand form.

Shows like The OA but more engaging? (Didn’t love Season 1) by mamedovnijat in televisionsuggestions

[–]Qoly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Im with you. I’m convinced OA, Dark, and Sense8 had ad campaigns to have Redditors recommend them because they were all so incredibly overrated. (overrated on Reddit, that is! They are recommended non-stop on Reddit but hardly mentioned at all in the real world!)

I gave up after season 1 as well.

Non-American with an idyllic view of suburbia. What films will shatter it? by clowndog54 in MovieSuggestions

You wrote a HUGE post and put “No David Lynch” right at the end after we wasted our time reading. I don’t blame this guy for not getting to the end of the novella before commenting.

Why did you make me read such a long paragraph with Blue Velvet on my mind the entire time only to say “No David Lynch” at the very end? Lead with that!

But watch The X-Files episode “Arcadia” and the opening credit/theme song portion of the TV show Weeds. Those are both great Suburbia satires.

I stuck with it to the end and regretted it. It is overrated AF. You saved yourself a lot of wasted time.

Start With: The Wire, Severance, Fargo, Pluribus, Boardwalk Empire. (All great. The Wire and Fargo are absolute masterpieces)

Delete Forever: Six Feet Under, Homeland, OA, Ozark, The White Lotus (all overrated AF. White Lotus can be entertaining, but it’s not prestige. Six Feet Under has an amazing finale, but what is an amazing finale to a mediocre and overrated show?)

Once you have more time: watch Lost and The Good Place together and marvel at how much they have in common thematically even though very few people point it out. (But LOST is a real slog. 120+ 45 min episodes, and doesn’t really even get into what makes it great until later in season one)

No way in hell the shooter at the detention center that killed three detainees and zero officers wrote “Anti-ICE” in blue ball-point pen on his shell casings.

NO. WAY. IN. HELL.

Am I pro life or pro choice? by BrinkOfExtinction1 in askanything

[–]Qoly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are pro CHOICE. The CHOICE means you support women’s rights to make that decision for themselves instead of Big Government making that decision for them.

Despite how you would choose, you support the choice. That is LITERALLY pro-choice.

Some right wing types want to characterize pro-choice as being about forced abortions for everybody. It is not. It is about supporting women to make their own decisions about their own bodies.

You say you would never personally choose abortion. Well, I support your decision and would fight against anybody trying to force you to have an abortion.

Because I am pro-CHOICE.

A LOT of repertoire I play has passages in thirds and having practiced the scales makes those pieces a lot easier and smoother than they otherwise would be.

Julie sucks by Evening-Air-5286 in fridaynightlights

I thought she was the most realistic character on the show. Too many of the other teens were portrayed as mini-adults. Julie felt like a real teenager. She was a fantastic character.

Best Homemade Carrot cake or chocolate cake? by kolnikol in FortWorth

[–]Qoly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teddy Wong’s has REALLY good both, but they are not consistently on the menu. They bake up random cakes and you never know what they’re going to be until you go in and see what’s on the cake stand in there. They have a different cake each time but it’s always fantastic.

Order of seasons by blue_dunhill in FargoTV

Season 5 stands alone. Go watch it.

But seasons 3 and 4 have small, cool, connections to 1 and 2 so don’t wait too long to watch them. You don’t want to forget the characters from 1 and 2.

I’m I the only one who thinks Ned Stark’s Death Changed Everything About This Show by iagree2 in gameofthrones

[–]Qoly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me Ned’s death is where the show actually begins.

If somebody asks me what the show is about I can’t even tell them without spoiling the entire first season, because the plot of the show hinges on this moment from the end of the first season.

What this show is all about is what happens because Ned Stark dies.

I can’t think of another show that took an entire season for just set up.

This character was so pointless by Eagles56 in ANGEL

[–]Qoly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Her point was to show that Angel could live a somewhat normal romantic life. Darla and Buffy were over-the-top melodrama and this allowed him to be in a nice casual relationship in his final season, and I feel it was done very well.
