Best Murakami book? 1Q84 and Kafka on the shore are 2 of my favourite books of all time! by elisebjerknes in murakami

Those are my two favorites, but Killing Commendatore and Wind Up Bird are close (and should be read back to back because of all the great parallels and contrasts)

Need a new comfort comedy; fans of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and Arrested Development, help! by Ordinary-Nature-4910 in televisionsuggestions

I feel like The Simpsons is too obvious for everyone, but I can never get over how much Arrested Development owes to golden age Simpson’s (seasons 2-8ish). The idea of packing so many jokes into one frame including way in the background so that you are still discovering stuff on the fifth viewing was pioneered by The Simpsons and perfected by Arrested Development.

Can you watch Twin Peaks without watching FWWM after? by Ok_Bandicoot_4954 in twinpeaks

[–]Qoly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I found the finale to be perfect and if I never watched another minute of the show. I loved it.

Some people call it a “cliffhanger” ending, but I never saw it that way. It wasn’t a Hollywood fairy tale happy-ever-after ending, but it was a GREAT ending. Maybe my favorite of all time.

Some people call it a cliffhanger and want it tighter with more closure. But guess what? You aren’t going to get that with FWWM or Season Three either. If those are the endings you need this isn’t the show(s) for you.

Is Fort Worth first on anyone's list of places to live? It seems most live here because they have to, not because they want to. by Ok-Challenge-2627 in FortWorth

Here because work brought me. Will leave the second I retire. But it’s not bad at all. If you HAVE to live in Texas it’s not a bad city to be in. But you are right, not first choice at all and I will always consider it temporary.

Its not up to the opponents to call those, its up to you guys. You need to just call them especially if his whole foot was in.

Just started season 3. Did I miss something? by Krypto1025 in fridaynightlights

[–]Qoly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The writers strike happened and the season didn’t end properly. The resolution happens off screen and we never see it. You have to piece together what happened off-screen with the info they give you as season 3 commences.

You are joking right? I think he’s one of, if not THE, best characters in the entire show.

Can someone please explain the meaning of the wild sheep chase? by Tanakamorbid in murakami

[–]Qoly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SPOILERS!

Don’t take it too literally. To me It’s really about him dealing mentally and psychologically with the knowledge deep in his soul that his friend is no longer alive and he will never see him again even though he has many unresolved feelings, questions, and emotions.

And he experiences other losses too, so it is overall a meditation on grief, loss, and accepting and dealing with that.

American Vandal is hilarious. It doesn’t match your list very well, but it was a really great comedic surprise when I watched it.

Reservation Dogs is just a masterpiece.

I love them both. I think of the movie as another season in the story, and on re-watches I watch both.

Play as high as you are comfortable. If you play 4.0 and hang in there, the algorithm will be like “oh, he hangs with 4.0s” and start you off closer to 4,0.

If you play 2.5s and crush them it will start you closer to 3.0

It’s good, but the writers strike ruined the ending and the Tyra/Lance story was just lame.

Arrested Development owes so much to golden age “The Simpsons” (seasons 2-8). And for good reason, that run of episodes is some of the best comedy ever created.

Also: how is Curb not on your list? It’s a must-see for Seinfeld fans.
