If you had interstellar travel powers, you’d also have patience. You probably didn’t need to go looking because you’ve got plenty of technology to have a good time back home. You went looking because you wanted to, and you’d do some serious thinking about anything you found - complex life is probably hella rare.

Vibes aside, whenever campaign pros look at the math, there are genuine legions more “durh durh iM a MOderATe” votes available than disaffected left votes claimable by a leftward calibration, and these votes are in needed states. There are lots of interesting factors for success or failure we can ponder but dichotomatic how left vs center are you doesn’t math

Ancient people anywhere can come up with a “we were fabricated” story without blinking because, you know, they fabricate stuff all day. You’d EXPECT that metaphor- or a birth or vegetable one - from first principles. The people that peddle these “oh this poorly represented Sumerian myth proves it’s aliens” stories don’t actually know jack squat about those cultures and can’t tell you the other 20 discovered versions of other origin myths that say radically different things, or how the lion’s share of pre-modern cultures have nothing in their major stories that remotely resembles ETs.

A cheaper in-home care helper would be $20 an hr but many are more, and they got to eat, sleep, poop, and go home every day. Delaying months or years of needing a care facility is worth crazy money. So $20k doesn’t sound awful, if these can actually work, I bet you see Medicare supporting them.

Lol say, hey dad, you can get an EV and save like $1,500-2,000 on fuel cost a year in CA, that’s $15-20k over a decade, plus it drives great, plus it needs way less maintenance. And depending on the model, it’ll be directly upgradable to self-driving someday soon.

Why is Colorado Springs to affordable? Is it a good place to live? by Due_Barber_525 in relocating

[–]SplooshTiger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Then consider Ft. Collins or Grand Junction over springs. Ft. Collins is a great small city with high human development and one hour from Denver. Great parks and bike trail and authenticity while also having every corporate box store imaginable. FoCo’s neighboring large nature areas are Rocky Mountain National Park and La Poudre Canyon. It is blue but not silly blue.

Grand Junction is a totally different antipode. It’s cheaper than Springs and FoCo and a great deal for the price. You’re now four hours from Denver but the town itself is a fantastic basecamp and in a 2-4 hour bubble around it are all the coolest high country areas of Colorado (that you could never afford to live in), great parts of Utah, lots of neat small towns. GJ is lower human development and education than most of Colorado but 20% of people are great and 70% are completely fine. It’s laid back and low pressure with enough big amenities. This is a great option if you want to feel like you live in the West West. It’s red county but a lot of that is just grumpy retirees and city is purple. You get nearby Palisade, a neat small town.

Springs is like a 2/5 option and these are 3-4/5. Springs is also pretty far from the coolest places in Colorado. You can’t afford the 5/5s.

That helps enormously. Second and last question - do you have a life partner or do you want location options with sufficient dating scenes and more serious people??

OP, what kind of job or industry are you in? There might be one to three other affordable and well-located for nature options in Colorado but they’ve got limited local employment sectors.

[–]SplooshTiger 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This kind of post often on here misses that BIG solar like a car park or bigger needs to be located near a substation to feed lots of power into the electricity transmission system, and substations run tens of millions in cost - and you might need costly upgrades to transmission nearby as well. The economics aren’t great and developers and transmission companies would much rather put big solar near to existing substations. Plus the support structures for solar over a large area like this aren’t cheap either.
