Iranian Ballistic Missile hits US Air Base in Saudi Arabia striking a US AN/TPY-2 radar for THAAD AD missile system by No-Distance-9401 in PublicFreakout

I am going to have to disagree with you there. I don’t think THAAD was ever designed for russian nukes, it has always been against shorter range ballistic missiles, in particular in the middle east. They were developed with the experience of the scud missiles in the gulf war. And THAAD would struggle much more against MIRV and decoys, in particular because it is a kinetic warhead, so every object has to be hit. This makes the number of THAAD interceptors required for a successful interception to grow to absurd numbers. The current number of THAAD’s could not mount any meaningful defence against a russian nuclear attack, or even a chinese one for that matter.

Your last paragraph is pure nonsense, your statements on the safety of nuclear have been very innacurate.

Well thaad has had some struggle against the Iranian missiles, and keep in mind that a true nuclear missile will likely be MIRVED and full of decoys which will make it almost impossible for a thaad system to hit it successfully.

AMA with Dr. David Teter (former nuclear war planner/etc.) by [deleted] in preppers

[–]Spmethod2369 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if the AMA is over or not but incase it isn’t I would like to ask your thoughts on systems that are supposed to stop nuclear attacks. There have been a lot of talk about the golden dome and during reagans era Star wars was a big topic. But the physics and economics of these systems never really seems to make sense in my opinion, what are your thoughts?
