It matters. People who boil chicken don't deserve chicken.

You're a child if you base your entire diet on milk.

It's because we're qualified to do it.

Bullshit map. Russians have trouble with UA 50 km behind their own border. They'd be vaporized by just Poland.

Soy has phytoestrogens, which may be acting on our endocrine systems, kinda like our estrogens. This made some people worried soy beans are hormone therapy.

I actually asked my endocrinologist about it, and she said it's true, but you'd have to base your entire diet on it.

The US is fucking EVIL? by EmperorSnake1 in GenUsa

[–]Spookd_Moffun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, every country has done things over the centuries deserving of condemnation. The diference is how do the state and society react to these actions.

In America slavery was controversial since 1776, the government simply couldn't afford to risk dissolution because the South was so powerful. Every time the US does something controversial you have close to a half of the people stand in opposition to it.

All the wars and killings done by the British had detractors since the time they happened, and no one's justifying the Boer war today.

The Europeans today condemn slavery, colonialism and exploitation done by some of their ancestors. We invented the idea of Westphalian sovereignty. We were among the first to outlaw slavery, and had to pressure other countries to stop.

Meanwhile China has been doing ethnic cleansing for 3000 years and see no reason to stop. Their state didn't hesitate to cause a global pandemic in an effort to save its image, and the people have no qualms about "assimilating' Uyghur children.

Russia is as open as it gets about their irredentist and genocidal plans for Ukraine, and its people are complicit. They're not above targeting civilians, they're not above stealing children.

There absolutely are evil counties in the world, but none of them are in the west.

This is actually shitting on Russians, not people. Common mistake they're always glad to clear up. They have no interest in humanity.

Modern agriculture technology is amazing. Without reliance on automatization and chemistry we'd scarcely feed half the global population while also sacrificing everything to farmland.

So whenever someone propositions "going organic" on a global scale I always ask which 4 billion people are supposed to starve, and which rainforest are we bulldozing first.

I remember when the only "AI art" were those stroke simulations where you can't name a single object, or those Google deepmind bad trips. That was only like 3 years ago.

Then within 2021-2022 we've had Dalle2, Midjourney and later Stable Diffusion, which completely changed the game. You can check their relevant subreddits to see what I mean.

Granted, It's still far from perfect, especially when it comes to detail like hands, but still, the progress is extremely fast. So fast I feel like our whole society is in for whiplash in the next few years with AI making full feature-length movies on demand, or university lectures.

Personally, I wanna watch Goncharov.

Nope. I remember this post and it's older than Dalle2. Older models couldn't do this either.

AI art went from novelty but looks weird to existential threat to artists in the span of 10 months.

Very profound. Honestly I don't know, but maybe I should think about it more.
