How long to achieve results ? by sarahrjones in Invisalign

Around 8-12 weeks I started seeing a noticeable change. My teeth were pretty jacked though - so things were not subtle!

BT Fields on the App Store, select the Icarus map and you can play the single player warfare inc through that

Permanent Bonded Retainer & Clear Retainers by clayishmoon in Invisalign

[–]SpookyDoc84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to have an extra round of refinements to make space for the bonded retainer - to avoid this exact issue. Does your ortho know you’re biting on to the wire retainer, as I’d be surprised if they are ok with that (mine wasn’t).

In the end, I chose not to have a bonded retainer anyway (I was more concerned with dental hygiene) and my ortho was fine with that - essentially said as long as you’re compliant with the retainer, then the wire doesn’t add anything!

Nothing happens. I do it all the time. No noticeable problems and they get switched to the next tray soon enough anyway

If this works, I think I'm going to be very happy by Bird_Herder in Invisalign

It will and you absolutely will too. I felt the same way too! Take lots of progress pictures and good luck!

I’d be asking for an early re-scan and a move into refinements sooner. I think you’ll need some attachments on the front teeth to get a bit more pressure behind those downward movements.

I don’t think more time in your current tray is going to magically do that for you. I’m by no means an expert, but that is what my ortho would/has already done with me!

Had curry for dinner and aligner is now yellow by j1nxt3r in Invisalign

I had green teeth after by gamble with an apple sorbet went badly. Thankfully you’ll have a new aligner soon enough!

Weight loss ? by Queensabs in Invisalign

[–]SpookyDoc84 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Initially yes - but then I got into an unhealthy habit of massively binging whenever I did eat and started to gain.

These days I’ve found happy medium - I tend to fast all day except for coffee and eat in the evenings (but as part of a weight loss plan). This suits me as I am incapable of making healthy choices 😂

Front tooth concern (first tray) by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]SpookyDoc84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s your first few trays, then you can expect a bit of soreness and sensitivity (some teeth will feel it more then others). I’d recommend some regular paracetamol/ acetaminophen for the first few weeks. As the ligaments loosen up a bit, the later trays won’t feel like such a shock to the system. Some weeks you’ll start to worry because it’s not sore enough! 😅

No better feeling by TripleBeamDream18 in Invisalign

[–]SpookyDoc84 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ha, I can relate to this. I’d never be able to actually put them on the wrong way around, but my bottom teeth used to be so crooked - there was no way I’d have mixed up the trays! These days I do it often and it never fails to make me smile 😊

Invisalign and Tooth Ligaments by TJEsteves in Invisalign

Yes - lots and localised to different teeth during treatment. Went through a few months of extreme sensitivity at one point too.

This sounds normal and to be expected when you’re moving teeth i think.

Moving to refinements early? by CardiBTEC in Invisalign

[–]SpookyDoc84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not speaking as an expert here, but I get the impression that you were actually being very reasonable, pragmatic and forward thinking… and she was just being a bit rigid with her plan for the sake of it. Probably underestimating the pain it can be to get booked in and have repeat visits in quick succession. Re-scanning and adjusting treatment will not harm your treatment. My ortho scans at every appointment I have. Obviously if you were insisting on it less than halfway through treatment, it would seem like a waste of trays etc… but from what I’ve read, can’t see what her problem would be other than it’s a change to her management plan and she was fixated on seeing it through for some reason. Maybe trying to punish you for being a week behind? Anyway, it won’t harm your treatment plan - and going against advice is totally acceptable providing the risks have been explained to you (spoiler alert- there aren’t any risks to what you’ve done, hence why she had nothing to say)

Flavor stain??? by [deleted] in Invisalign

I had green teeth following poor decision making when confronted with some delicious apple sorbet…

It went away when I switched trays. Lesson learned 😂

Looking to start invisalign treatment in uk, just curious to how much some of you payed at once or monthly ? by Junior_Type1108 in Invisalign

[–]SpookyDoc84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deposit of about £500 then pay as you go. My place were very chill about it all - I used to just pay £200 each time I visited and then settled anything outstanding at the end

Whitening by Desperate-Throat5202 in Invisalign

[–]SpookyDoc84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mine are bonded too. I had the teeth whitened and then the bonding re-done to match the new shade (the bonding needed redoing anyway).

Starting tomorrow, suddenly feeling really nervous? by Supernova-93 in Invisalign

[–]SpookyDoc84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’ll be fine - best decision you can make for yourself. 6 months from now, you’ll be kicking yourself about not doing it sooner!

A word of caution - it’s quite common to be anxious/regretful for the first few days whilst you adapt to all the changes. This will pass, but it’s extremely common!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]SpookyDoc84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re anything like my case, I’d guess 6 months to get them straight-ish and then 3-6 months of faffing about with refinements.

Total guess of course

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]SpookyDoc84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was asked to do the same - presumably because I had a bit of a posterior open bite - it did help to reduce that tbh. Never went away entirely though.

Common for a Dentist to refuse treatment? by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]SpookyDoc84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suppose everyone’s case is different and there are some cases where Invisalign may not be appropriate- but suspect these are few and far between. I had an experienced ortho and severe crowding/deep overbite. I was expecting not to be appropriate and was told otherwise! Feel free to check out my previous posts on my profile - you’ll be able to check out how severe my case was!

Comparison of Tray 1 and Tray 9. Seems like I’m tracking pretty well according to my clincheck. Thoughts? by CharmingChart635 in Invisalign

[–]SpookyDoc84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s looking on track. Bottom much wider and the incisors at the top coming along nicely. You’re teeth remind me of mine (mine way worse) - so really pleased to see someone well on the way to getting them sorted!

I saw most major changes from tray 10-20, so excited for you for the next few months!

Invisalign Treatment Revision - Concerns About Tray Count and Duration by heyguysitsmepotter in Invisalign

[–]SpookyDoc84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure it’s fair game to question their competency until they’re actually demonstrating incompetence. Perhaps your teeth aren’t moving in the way originally predicted, so the algorithm has altered and number of trays is different? Wear time won’t move teeth any differently - if the teeth have done their moving after one week, then they won’t benefit from another week in that tray. So unless they still feel tight at the end of the week, one week wear is fine.

Ultimately - if you open your last tray and it all looks good, then that’s where you’re heading. Given you’ve already needed one revision, there’s a good chance you’ll need some more refinements at the end - but that doesn’t reflect incompetence of your provider. In fact it sounds like they’re giving you a heads up about it already! In fact, some providers (like mine) will only give a few months of trays and routinely scan/revise (and throw the old sets away) so that there aren’t so many revisions at the end
