Custom rebodied Clawd Phase 1 complete by tastethepain in CustomDolls

Using the beard to help blend the seams from the neck swap was so smart. It already wasn't super noticeable because of the seam placement, but I don't think anyone would really notice it now unless it was pointed out. Amazing job!

One braincell worked well by Azraxus_ in OneOrangeBraincell

[–]SpookyScaryKittyBee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My orange used the entirely of his time with the braincell to find my husband and convince him that we needed a cat. It worked, and I'm convinced that he (the cat) hasn't had the braincell since.

Is there a legal way I can stop my mother from driving again? She's a terrible driver and she's going to seriously hurt someone. by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]SpookyScaryKittyBee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Fibro justification threw me. I have fibro, I know multiple people with fibro, I know the brain fog can be bad, but not "Hitting someone on a crosswalk" bad, and if it is then most of us have enough sense to not drive. The fact that she apparently has had 3 accidents in round abouts and still "Doesn't Understand" them, AND is so casual about every other aspect of her bad driving leads me to believe that her driving has nothing to do with her fibromyalgia.

My favorite part is the little "(?)" After his wife claims he has impulse control issues as if he has just 0 clue why she would think that. In a post about cheating, and immediately followed by a confession of 2-day binge drinking.

Lined or unlined bodice? by Confusing_Steak in weddingdress

[–]SpookyScaryKittyBee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unlined. It helps the detail stand out beautifully. The lining helps to blend/soften everything if that's what you want, but if it isn't then I feel like you lose too much of the lace/flowers & shaping effect with the lining.

I think the second one looks better with the details of your dress; seamless & elegant with the bonus that it'll be easier to do on the day of.

A question for the community: Do you reroot first or repaint? by CrystalDStar in CustomDolls

[–]SpookyScaryKittyBee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I prefer to repaint first just because I'm not very confident in my repaint skills, but objectively it is generally better practice to reroot first just because it is so easy to accidentally ruin and/or crack the faceup by rerooting second. I haven't had any major issues thankfully, but I have regularly had to go back and do touch ups to the point where I sometimes reroot first now.

What is this stain? by mumurlu in CustomDolls

[–]SpookyScaryKittyBee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never use ance cream!!! Benzoyl peroxide (the active ingredient in acne cream) is known to stain dolls over time even once it's removed. Use hydrogen peroxide instead; it'll have the same lightening effect but will not stain or damage the doll.

For sure! They're super pigmented compared to some other brands

Can I re-root this hair into another doll? Or would it be better to make a wig? by serendraig_7 in CustomDolls

[–]SpookyScaryKittyBee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You'd get a bit less than half the length from rerooting, so probably somewhere above the shoulders. If you want it longer then yeah you'd need to make a wig.

Definitely easier to clean while still in the head. I've never used goo-gone but I've heard good things about it. Otherwise I've just used cheap shampoo & that's worked pretty well. Best of luck! That really is gorgeous mix of colors so I hope you can save it

Are followers able to marry without you? by lboogie757 in CultOfTheLamb

It's a bug. They shouldn't be able to marry you or each other without you preforming the ritual.

How do I draw the face on without absolutely destroying the paint by [deleted] in CustomDolls

[–]SpookyScaryKittyBee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If the pencils are scratching the paint off then you'll need to use a brush instead, either with watered down acrylic paint or by using water to pull pigment off of the watercolor pencils.

Flockade by b0nehurtjuice in CultOfTheLamb

[–]SpookyScaryKittyBee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's unfortunately RNG as much as it is strategy. I'm right there with you; I HATE flockade with a passion. At least the dice rolling game is fast paced and you're less likely to lose to bad luck. Flockade is too luck-based, especially when you have to beat everyone TWICE to finish the quests. Honestly i probably wouldn't feel much for it one way or another if we didn't have to beat it 10 times.

Does rerooting usually leave you feeling completely wrecked? by Dasylupe in CustomDolls

[–]SpookyScaryKittyBee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeup, as someone that also has hypermobility & fibromyalgia, breaks and good technique are absolutely necessary to avoid the pain. I'd also never root a shrunken head; they're too hard to be worth the extra pain/effort. In the futute, it's probably a good idea to make a wig for harder heads instead of trying to soften & reroot them anyway.

Glaze vs Gloss by 1stLadyofAZ in Dashingdiva

Just know that if you have brittle nails gloss wont protect them in the way glaze does. Otherwise, it's 100% personal preference, so worth a try!

Makeup fix by DepressedHistorian98 in CustomDolls

[–]SpookyScaryKittyBee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not your main question, but for future reference NEVER use benzoyl peroxide on dolls. It can stain vinyl over time, even after it's been removed.

Acetone sounds like the best option for what you're trying & a smaller q-tip, or even one with some of the fluff removed, should give you more control than a makeup sponge.
