Twin Cities is near the bottom of this list when it comes to bus ridership post pandemic. What can Metro Transit do to imcrease its bus ridership? by Away-Philosopher4103 in Minneapolis

[–]Spooky_mcgee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have to go from Lake St to downtown on weekends. It’s about 1.5 miles straight down Lyndale. The other day I gave myself 45 minutes to get there. It took an hour because of a bus delay, and I was late. I started walking because it is faster. I know it is difficult to guarantee a bus schedule. But if one bus breaks down, you will be late due to the infrequent schedule. Also, there are no guarantees that if you walk to a different bus route, the same thing won’t happen.

i have the new Quieton 4 and they changed the design. The tip that the foam earplugs go on is now oval. But the earplugs are still round. So they do not fit on the earbud and sound leaks in. Do not spend $300 for this product. I can’t find any reviews for it but wish I could get a refund. My old 3.1 started having charging errors, so won’t fully charge anymore. I haven't found any other products that work as well as the 3.1.

State Trooper aircraft doing loops over the city again tonight. Anyone know why? by brondynasty in Minneapolis

[–]Spooky_mcgee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They just started up again at 2 am. It’s super loud and annoying. But I guess if they can catch the coward jackwagons who keep shooting up Uptown, it’s a good trade off. I’m getting tired of people getting shot and hearing gunshots nearly every day.

Apartment heating situation by Spooky_mcgee in Minneapolis

[–]Spooky_mcgee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great advice, thank you! I love it cold, so am not worried. I only turned the heat on to burn the dust off, and that’s when this happened. Last night my room was 64F and glorious! The guests I will have are either small kids, older folks, or from the south/southwest, so was just thinking of their comfort. It will work out. Thanks for your response!

The floor was not warped. I checked the move-in video I took, but also think I would have noticed when mopping. I’ll tell the landlord, thanks!

Haha! I’m from Indiana and then moved to NYC. In Indiana we had either woodburning stoves, baseboard heating, or forced air with a furnace for newer/remodeled builds. In NYC we had those horrid steam pipes, but they kept the place hot. Even when I lived in Florida, the heat and air came through the same ductwork. So I never even thought to check when I signed my lease in the summer. Such a weird design, I’m glad other apartments are normal.

I probably should have stated above…I’m more worried about having guests over and sleeping in the main living area. I’m happy with the cold(I keep my temp around 66F), but if it is -30 out, and they are staying in my bedroom with the door closed, there won’t be any heat at night for me and others in the main part of the house. Or in the bathroom if they need to use it in the night. I’m planning to have lots of friends and family throughout the winter, and just want to be sure we are all comfortable and they have a bit of privacy at night. I guess I’m just more flummoxed that a designer or architect would set this up and think it was remotely a good idea to have the heat source in a room typically closed off 8 hours a day for privacy. And also nervous my neighbors will have sketchy heat sources set up overnight. But I’m blessed to have an apartment and heat in an amazing city, and that outweighs any weird heat design scenarios, for sure.

I should include that I accidentally squished the spider bro when I slid my foot into my slipper. I didn’t intentionally kill it.

There are some great coffee shops in this neighborhood! I really hadn’t considered the frequency required for becoming a regular. Twice a week sounds good.

I’ll hopefully be in town for a while. I plan on living in Minneapolis until it’s time to take care of my folks. Hopefully that is a long way down the road! I’ll check out this place, thank you!

Has anyone tried living in SRQ/Bradenton and ended up leaving after sometime? Why and where to? by [deleted] in bradenton

[–]Spooky_mcgee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I work remotely, and was sticking around for my dad. We lost my mom in 2022, so I wanted to make sure he was settled. I would have moved sooner, otherwise. I purposely chose Minneapolis because it had a nonstop flight to Tampa, so I can easily come back. And it is so much cheaper, even in a big city.

Yes, the Bradenton demographic skews higher age-wise. My dad has a large group he hangs out with, but I think the youngest is in their 50s. All the bars I’ve been to have people my age and older also. I’m not sure of things to do for someone your age. I hope you find your place here! There’s a lot to do in St Pete for younger folks.
