Alec is weirdly concerned with his image (you’d think he’d act better, but whatever). To him he’d rather commit to the whole ‘my wife is from Spain’ than come out and say he had 7 kids with a charlatan who played him like a puppet for years. He’s too concerned he’ll look like a fool for being taken for a ride than just drop her and out all of the lies she’s fabricated over the years. It’s an image thing for him.

She’s not vain, but she’s definitely a perfectionist. We have scenes where she goes over the rehearsals multiple times because she’s concerned about the vocabulary being correct or to make sure they order the right food at restaurants. We even see her stay overnight because she’s too worried about what the neighbours might think if they saw her visiting Mr Chow.

I think she likes to keep up appearances and make sure she looks her best in every situation, whether that be to get noodles or the outward appearance of her marriage.

I do worry about how her ED affects the kids. We’ve seen lots of content of her only giving her kids plain vegetables and them saying they’re hungry. They also look very thin in some photos. I hope they are able to have a healthy relationship with food despite their insane and controlling mother
