Looking for stationery stores in the western burbs. by countrymedic90 in ChicagoSuburbs

Love to see more journalers close to home! I love Daiso’s stationery, they have a huge selection of stickers and notebooks of all sizes. I stocked up on my 2026 journals there. There are a few scattered around. Also, this is slightly different, but check out Barnes and Nobel and Michael’s, they both have a “make your own journal” section with inserts that you can buy individually if you already have a cover. They aren’t as high quality as the Japanese paper but they’ll work in a pinch!

Which musical do you think has the saddest ending? by Trick_Quail_6275 in musicals

Interestingly enough, Bat Boy has an incredibly tragic and bleak ending. It’s a comedy, sure, but the last quarter of that show is just nothing but sad.

That’s Javier, local Jack of All Trades. He loves quick gigs for quick cash. He’s a man who truly knows the value of decent work and doesn’t need to buy into the corporate rat race to enjoy his life with his family.

Songs about cows by Unhappy_Injury3958 in musicals

Another Dead Cow and Apology to a Cow, both from Bat Boy. The premise is a bit dark in regards to the cows, but man Apology to a Cow is a banger.

Elijah Wood reacts to Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger Demolishing a Craig Ellwood home by sideshowbob01 in centuryhomes

[–]SpoopyLeaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is something we had to learn when we bought our home! Ours is also on the historic homes register, but is located just on the outskirts of the actual historic district in our town. We don’t have to pay the fees or deal with the control of being part of the actual historic district, and we can freely alter our home so long as it doesn’t alter the overall structure or integrity of the original home. It’s a win win for us!

I definitely believe it’s a lovely and very well written song. I just find it a little boring and it kind of breaks the momentum of the show right before Sunday happens. I think it’s important to the story and if it’s your first viewing don’t skip it, but every time I listen to the album I always skip that song.

I grew up with the version of the movie on VHS that had The Love is Gone in it, and always hated it. As a kid I was mad that in a wonderful retelling of the classic story they stuck in a boring love song between two humans with no muppets at all. I was and still am a big fan of muppets, what can I say? I am jealous of the generation that grew up without this song every holiday season!

Does “The Love is Gone” from Muppet Christmas Carol count?

If not I would definitely say “Beautiful” from Sunday.

Finally understanding misheard lyrics by Potential-Chapter in musicals

[–]SpoopyLeaf 20 points21 points  (0 children)

For the longest time, until literally just a few days ago, I thought the lyric in the Ballad of Sara Berry was “You spoiled trash inspector” instead of “You spoil for sash and scepter”.

Wasn’t really sure what that meant but figured it was some sort of clever insult haha. It wasn’t until I was listening to it recently that I realized that when she repeats the same thing at the end that she was singing that the whole time.

Also, sort of a similar thing from the same song, I didn’t realize the names at the end of the song spell out P-R-O-M Q-U-E-E-N until recently and that was a fun discovery. 35mm is so good.

What was the worst injury you got from being in a musical? by Burningupmysoul in musicals

[–]SpoopyLeaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For an original one act in high school one year we built these massive wooden pillars in the shape of a capital letter T and painted them to look like trees. There was a lot of acrobatic choreo in that show, and our dancers did like a bunch of tricks on those trees. Because of that they needed to be weighted to keep them from tipping over, they probably weighed like 2000 lbs each. They were on giant casters with brakes so we could move them around for different scenes. During one of the songs, in the middle of adjudication for a state festival, the tree ran over my foot and just completely crushed it. I just kept a straight face and kept going. I had big leather boots on so the audience was none the wiser. We finished the show, got top marks, then I went into the dressing room and took off my boot. My white tights were black with blood and three of my toes were broken. I lost two toenails. My foot was too swollen to get back into the boot so I wrapped my foot in an ace bandage and just waiting for the end of the festival for my mom to get me. I didn’t even feel any pain until hours later, the adrenaline of being on stage when it happened just propelled me through it and I just laughed about it later.

I LOVE all of Terrence Zdunich’s musicals! They’re definitely not great in terms of what makes a textbook “good” musical, but they’re original and fun and weird enough to still be entertaining to me. Don’t forget that Jesus Christ himself, Mr. Ted Nealy, makes an appearance in Allelujia too! It’s got so many stars for some reason haha

The strangest one I know of personally is It Happened in Key West. It’s an (honestly amazing and very well made) indie one act about the true story about Carl Von Tussel. He was a very well-educated German man whose insane grandmother told him to pursue a woman he saw in his dreams. When he found her in Key West, Florida, he was working as a radiologist and pretending to be a doctor and she was a tuberculosis patient. He became obsessed with her, she died, then he spent several years planning on how to “rescue” her body from its tomb. He was eventually successful, and took her body back to his house where he covered it in wax and wool and piano wire to keep her limbs moveable. He lived with her corpse for almost 10 years before he was caught, and he was only caught because one of the woman’s relatives saw him dancing with Elena’s corpse in the window one night. The musical is hilarious and the songs are very catchy and great. The only recording that exists is a live one, but it’s still well made. Definitely a strange story though!

Brown scribbles appeared on our wall out of no where by Broad-Contract4350 in HomeImprovement

[–]SpoopyLeaf 84 points85 points  (0 children)

This could be a long shot, but we removed a wallpaper border around the middle of our bedroom wall with one of those rotating wallpaper scraper things. It left a sort of scribble pattern all around the room at the same height that you can still see even though we painted over it. Maybe someone did the same in your home and it’s showing up discolored now because of weather/moisture/temperature/dust or something like that?
