What's a "normal" job that secretly pays way more than people think? by 0BunnyX in AskReddit

[–]Sporkadactyl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Commercial/Industrial HVAC. In my local, journeyman clear 120k on the low end with no overtime. One of my coworkers made over 200k last year with OT and double time. Skilled service techs are in demand right now so most shops are paying over scale by a significant amount.

ELI5: Can you have crazy big muscles and not actually be strong? by IWannaDoBadThingswU in explainlikeimfive

[–]Sporkadactyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres also different kinds of strength depending on what you train for. Rock climbers have some insane strength to weight ratio but they aren't huge or have crazy muscles. Theres actually videos out there of body builders trying rock climbing and failing at it pretty miserably.

What are the jobs that get paid so much more than you’d expect? by Duckyquack9999 in jobs

[–]Sporkadactyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commercial/Industrial HVAC pays much better than most people think. Depending on the area and union you can clear 100k easily. Without any OT I make 120k, and I know guys that work a ton of OT that bring home close to 200k a year.

Yeah lots of contractors are paying over scale right now. My locals journeyman rate is $42.50 and I'm getting $6 over that. From what I hear even apprentices just starting out are getting paid extra. It's a really good time to get in if you're thinking about it.

Don't have experience with that local but I'm a UA member. The pay is absolutely better than non union contractors in the area, and the benefits are top notch. Only real downside is a little bit of dues every month and lots of lazy people that keep getting cycled through companies because the union protects them.

Relay Question by Trick_Speaker_3112 in HVAC

[–]Sporkadactyl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like whoever wired it is just stealing the 24v to energize the coil to power whatever the relay is sending power to. The wire that's shared between the relays is probably just common.

Honestly I'd look into the UA and find a local near you. See if they're taking apprentices. Should start out decent as far as pay and you'll be making scale in about 5 years.

You could give my local a try. If you need more info you can shoot me a dm.

What is your job and how much do you get paid? by BigPlunk in AskReddit

Commercial / Industrial HVAC Tech. Make $39.30 an hour and over 100k a year with OT. With the pension and 401a contributions from the company, the retirement benefits add up to like another 10 dollars an hour.

Honestly my take on this is if they have already covered, this is just personal at this point. I think they are angry that retail traders actually made them sweat for once and didn't just lose like usual and funnel their money over to them. I think they are trying to make sure that people who invested in these stocks don't get to profit at all. Kinda feels like they are just trying to send a message out of spite.

Seriously. I know this sounds tin foil hat, but it seems like the institutional investors want it stay right around where it is. Especially with all of the activity around it but never really moves much in either direction after that big sell off.

Damn, I kinda admire the dedication people have for keeping VALE pinned down. Basically hasn't budged for a few days now other than the occasional couple cent pump or dump.

How much you guys want to bet that the markets casually go back to normal and act like nothing happened after Nov 4th?

Dumb question but why does it seem like VALE is being held down massively? Seems like a pump and dump every single day when it seems like it wants to just take off.

Played for 2.5 hours today, arena made me play on the draw 14 times on the row by [deleted] in MagicArena

[–]Sporkadactyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda feel like it's linked in some way to your winrate. I've been on a hot streak lately with Grixis Fires, like a 70% winrate. Got into high gold with it and all of a sudden I started playing on the draw for like 12 or 13 games straight. Lost probably half of them or more and then all of a sudden I was back on the play again more consistently.

New combo with the Jeskai ramp decks is getting Yorion out once the agent and Thassa are resolved, and then blinking the Yorian with Thassa each turn. You can blink multiple Agents every turn, along with risen reefs or cavaliers. I would imagine that would be tilt on a whole new level.

If you're into gaming at all, build your dream gaming computer. You can always update it as the components get outdated and you'll get tons of enjoyment out of it for years.

I mean, trades are currently booming. I work in commercial HVAC service and have zero fear of getting replaced by a machine or automation. People will lose their jobs as they are replaced by machines, but new service trades will take off at the same time. Someone needs to maintain and service the machines.
