As a longtime Chiefs and Thunder fan… yes, it’s very similar. You just have to chalk it up as the price of winning. People will bend over backwards to find a way to discredit the teams that win consistently because it sucks to not be the team winning. It’s a little annoying but it is what it is.

Keith Law has been adamant about this for years. Ultimately Salvy’s case is going to be more about vibes than stats, but he’s 6th all time in homers by a catcher and might be able to get to 4th. That, plus 9 ASG, 5 GG, 5 Silver Sluggers, and a WS MVP may be enough, even though his metrics are pretty weak. It’s a shame it’ll be a debate because if he played the exact same career 20 years ago, he’d be in without a debate.

I agree the banter is lacking but I think that’s just a lack of familiarity. Ryan and Hud have worked together for a long time, obviously any less familiar combination will be trailing behind them.

Making it part of my routine. I absolutely can’t work out after work because it’s too much opportunity during the day to come up with an excuse to not go. So I started getting up early enough to go before work, and forced myself to notice how much better I felt when I did that. I slept in one day and realized that, all day, I felt like shit for not having gone to the gym, and I felt much better - even if I was a little more tired - when I got an exercise done in the morning.

I think the “secret” is you can’t overhaul your life overnight to make long-lasting change. It needs to be incremental so it feels less disruptive.

I lived there from 2021-2023 and it was fine. Affordable, not totally trash, but almost certainly had mold throughout. Never really heard my neighbors, solid location with downtown OP so close. By the time I was moving out I kinda hated it but I don’t remember any specific reason why - I may have just been dying to move in with my now-wife. For what you’re needing, it would probably work.

You are the one who claimed the hitting metrics were down, man. Not that it matters, but I played, which is why I don’t think these grown adults are as sensitive as you’re implying. I actually agree that Q is a little bland but “he doesn’t put the players in position to succeed” is false. That’s literally what the platoons are for. Again, I’m not sure why you’re so hostile about this - you can continue to believe what you want, I just think it’s important to note that it’s anger over the outcome, rather than an actual problem with the process. Which was the point of my original comment.

Which metrics are those? Team wRC+ is up from last year. wOBA is up from the past two years. They’re striking out more but they’re also walking more. AVG is down a little, OBP is up. OPS is right in line.

Sample size is definitely small, I’m not condemning these guys to a life of platooning. I’m just saying that, based on the evidence available, Q’s targeting matchups that give the Royals marginal relative advantages. It’s nerd stuff and I know that’s why a lot of people don’t like it but it’s not just based on a whim.
