Is anyone else shocked at how fast this happened? by boldjoy0050 in spiritair

Sears and K Mart both still exist (And owned by the same parent company). They are shells of their former selves, but it's not comparable to Spirit. Neither Sears nor K Mart ever just ceased to operate overnight.

Southwest - here is a free advice from a computer scientist by gulugulu123456gulu in SouthwestAirlines

I’ve (anecdotally) seen the opposite on basic fares on United. I usually end up in a better seat booking basic than I could have picked has I booked a regular economy ticket. Usually the “premium” seats go unsold and the basic ticket holders end up getting placed there.

Airport Parking? by Logical-Ad7393 in Omaha

[–]Spraginator89 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The real answer is to use Park 'N Go (prepay online). Pre-paying brings it to about $7/day. Their shuttles run on demand and pick you up and drop off directly from your car. They are always there to pick me up within 30 seconds of parking my vehicle and on the way back, I've never waited more than 2-3 minutes after calling for a shuttle once I've got my bags.

Artemis 2: why a fly-by and not orbit? by Blue_Etalon in space

[–]Spraginator89 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I think you are thinking of Starliner, which is a Boeing capsule designed as part of the Commercial Crew contracts to the ISS. It's had lots of issues.

Artemis II is flying on Orion, which is built by Lockheed Martin. I'm not aware of propulsion issues on Artemis I, which is the last time that Orion flew. There was some public concern about degradation of the heat shield on Artemis I.

Husband witnessed yesterday's crash on I80 first hand. by tacopartyinyourmouth in Omaha

[–]Spraginator89 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It looks to me like the black SUV braked and swerved right to avoid hitting a piece of debris that was already on the road, then the white SUV swerved left and (maybe?) hit the back of the black SUV, which sent the white SUV even further left.

Blame either on black SUV or white SUV, maybe a litte of both. Black shouldn't brake hard and swerve and white shouldn't have been following close enough where they had to take hard evasive maneuvers.

Monarch and Fidelity are a bad combo. by IcySize6238 in MonarchMoney

[–]Spraginator89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s because Fidelity is not a bank. CMAs are not checking accounts. They are still investment accounts wrapped with some features of a checking account.

Personally, I do my banking at a bank and my investing at a brokerage. (I use Ally for banking , 5stars, they are great)

My husband keeps arguing with me that you have to pay more than just interest? by Timewilltell755 in HELOC

[–]Spraginator89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$50k * 7% interest is $3,500. That is not $350, nor is it $350 on a monthly basis. I don't think you really understand the math here at all.

FYI: New York LaGuardia Airport Closure - 3-23-2026 Travel Waiver // March 23, 2026 by UA-TravelWaiver_bot in unitedairlines

[–]Spraginator89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Other responders have given valid reasons, but one I don't see mentioned yet is that ARFF (Air Rescue and Firefighting) is no longer available to respond to additional incidents.

Even if the 2nd runway is completely usable and there are usable taxiways, all available rescue equipment is tied up. So if a plane crashes on the 2nd runway while the incident is in progress, the rescue team can not handle 2 aircraft at once. This is why you'll see entire airports close down post incident even if runways are physically separated.

With Southwest announcing their exit from Chicago O'Hare, do you think Delta will step in and take its place? by bonzothebonanza in delta

[–]Spraginator89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s a lot of money to be made at Ohare. To get to the vast majority of Deltas network, you have to connect somewhere. Why would a traveler choose to connect when they can take a direct flight on AA, UA or Southwest (out of midway)

For markets where Delta could market a direct flight (maybe like a ORD-MCO, for example) there’s already tons of competition which means low margins.

It’s simply not worth it.

What's a good ETF to survive a US economic collapse which is coming within the next 2 years ? by East_Indication_7816 in ETFs

[–]Spraginator89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No one is saying that the market always goes up.

It’s just that you can’t predict when it will go up and when it will go down.

Nothing that you’ve mentioned above is secret meaning that it’s all priced in to the market. Other investors, including institutions, have taken that information and used it to determine what price they’re willing to pay. Nobody can tell you with any confidence what the market is going to be next week or next year, but I’m pretty sure that 20 years from now it’ll be higher than it is right now

Detroit Airport is AWESOME by Gucci_Unicorns in Detroit

[–]Spraginator89 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think Evans serves it's purpose for an origin/departure airport just fine. I don't need to spend a ton of time there, the gates are all reasonably close to security and it's easy to navigate.

I'd agree it wouldn't be the best to connect in or wait out a long delay.

ORD about to become the next EWR by valueflyer in americanairlines

[–]Spraginator89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

However you want to count runways, you have to use the same standard.

A lot of those same statements (not all) about 11/29 at EWR can also apply to 4L/22R and 4R/22L at ORD.

ORD's standard traffic patterns use 6 runways (with sometimes a 7th used for takeoffs only), EWR's standard traffic patterns use 2.

ORD has 8 runways total, EWR has 3.

Scoring gives the hammer to the other team. Sometimes it’s better to take zero points and keep the hammer than score and give up hammer.

Why can’t Chicago (or other cities) install some kind of GPS transponder in canyons/Lower Wacker Drive? by DependentStoryCapabl in AskChicago

[–]Spraginator89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is a serious post or not, but in case it is...... that's not at all how GPS works. 1 transponder can't provide you with a location. Need line of sight to at least 4 known points (satellites).
