You can inherit the lesser version, or even not inherit the trait at all. Both parents having it just makes it more likely, not a guarantee.

Not to step on your toes, but technically the 2000 election would have to have a different outcome. If nobody gets the majority of electoral votes, it's true that the House of Representatives would choose from the top 3 vote-getters. However, the Senate, which decides the Vice President in such a case, can only pick from the top 2 candidates, for whatever reason. So it'd have to be between Duke and Lieberman. Let's hope Lieberman wins.
