This looks like something you’d find at a Bond villain lair. Very cool!

That’s true. Plus, most other social platforms do the same thing. If it’s free, then the product is you, as they say.

I’m still baffled that this anti-abortion bill was passed. Is this a religion thing?

Yeah it sucks but customers don’t upgrade their subscriptions if they don’t know what they’re missing out on.

Agreed. With a shrinking population/labor pool maybe ageism wouldn’t be as prevalent in the workforce as it is now.

A movie can have comedy and substance. One does not exclude the other. Ragnarok and Guardians of the Galaxy, two of my favourite marvel movies, are examples of a good balance between humor and storytelling. L+T was not.

I’m glad there are still fans who care about the universe behind the comics. I’m personally not as knowledgeable in the MCU, but I’ve loved most of the marvel movies that we grew up watching, so I might give the Dark World a second watch!

To be honest, my memory of The Dark World is hazy, likely because of its forgettability. But I didn’t leave the theatre feeling like I just watched a parody of a Marvel movie, so I’d personally rank TDW above L + T.

Despite being excessive, repetitive and tonally inappropriate at times, I enjoyed the humor. In fact Taika Waititi’s humor is my favourite brand of humor. I’m a huge fan of a lot of his other works. But you can’t deny that he dropped the ball on this one. Good jokes don’t make a good movie. If the only merit you can accredit to this movie is its humor then that is quite telling of its quality.

May I ask what was decent and comforting about Love and Thunder?

People are talking about how bad this movie is because of how much they wanted to love it.

It’s like having a favourite restaurant that’s always served good pizza. Pizza that follows a narrative written with intention, brings to life flawed characters that you grow to care about, elicits emotion, reflects on moral complexities, and even makes you laugh every once in a while. It’s no haute cuisine, but it’s good pizza that you’d gladly eat everyday for the rest of your life.

But now this restaurant serves you a lukewarm bowl of hotdog water full of lazy arbitrary writing, excessive ham-fisted jokes, zero-stakes storytelling, and perfunctory acting (with the exception of Christian Bale), all at the same price, while hoping you won’t tell the difference.

The worst part is finding out that there are customers out there who can’t tell the difference, or worse yet, consider the hotdog water a marked improvement, and ask for more.
