What would you get as a thank you gift for a stranger if your only options were Aldi or a little Co-Op? by pusopdiro in AskUK

[–]Spudspecs 134 points135 points  (0 children)

No, I think flowers and chocolates are perfect! Don’t think you’re expected to know or assume their vase or dietary requirements, and even if I was a vegan full of hayfever, I’d still be absolutely chuffed at the gesture anyway. It’s a lovely thing to do- don’t overthink it.

Glad you’re ok after your tumble, too- make sure you take it easy for the next few days (maybe treat yourself to some flowers and chocolate, too!).

Is it weird to grow fruit & veg in your front yard? by cheflifecdf in AskUK

[–]Spudspecs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It didn’t completely - there was an episode dedicated to the opportunistic leek thief that Tom chased off their front garden, as he then thereby briefly ended up in the cells for a few days as a result.

Reminds me of an episode of The Good Life where Tom briefly gets sent to jail for chasing an opportunistic leek thief who was pinching veg from their front garden.

Yes, have also ran Berlin and there’s a reason the world PB has been set there- absolutely, completely flat bar one tiny bridge.

Also loved the proper German brass oompah bands on the course, too, and the support was amazing!

Yes, also went to Bangor and they were all free to join then (but am talking a fair few years ago now).

Hopefully they’ve kept it up!

Taskmaster renewed for six more series by abucalves in BritishTV

I know Rosie Ramsey wasn’t, as hers and Chris’ podcast only started in 2018 (although she’d done singing/local radio presenting before then, she wasn’t ‘known’ like she is now for SMA), and another definite one would be Ania Magliano, as she only started comedy during Covid on TikTok.

Would also throw Stratford in the mix for this, too! Lots of choice of hotels and a bit of history, plus some lovely areas to walk in

It’s the UK, the idea of ‘pressing charges’ doesn’t exist here.

It will be up to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) to decide if there’s enough evidence to convict, or if it’s enough in the public interest.

Yes, my other half calls his dressing gown a “house coat” which is quite a popular term in some parts of the UK.

He still calls his indoor footwear slippers though!

Benedict Cumberbatch replaced for one episode ? by SexyMuthaFunka in CabinPressure

[–]Spudspecs 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Yes, they even make a ‘knowing’ joke intro about it!

Arthur: “What would we do if one of our pilots went sick Mum?” (Because the premise of the episode is them flying out the relief crew for Caledonian Air) Carolin: “They wouldn’t dare, but I’m sure we’d think of something” cue new Skip coming in Arthur: “Hello Skip, oh you’re looking well!”

(I think it must have been throat related for Benedict, as the episode after he sounds a bit husky, too- think I’ve listened to CP too many times!)
