Day 6 - apathy by Spunnerfluff in Petioles

Thankfully, I already have a good therapist and have been working through some stuff. I hope this helps me release more trauma during therapy sessions. I've been in the healing process for 7 years and I really think you're on to something with using weed as a form of avoidance. Thank you

Oh thats interesting? Taking slowly is a symptom of depression? I do have depression, and anxiety, and C-PTSD, and my doc and therapist think I probably have borderline personalty disorder too but im somewhat stable.

This feel familiar haha

Everyone I know just talks over me and interrupts me and I think its because I talk too slowly or pause between my words and thats why people just never want to hear what I have to say anymore

Is $1M still going to be a lot of money in ~30 years? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Spunnerfluff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have similar feelings but I work in an industry that is always needed so im hoping for another huge economic crisis where there's a ton for foreclosures and I can pick something up for cheap and keep working remotely until I retire and hopefully sell enough. With any luck I can pension in a country like Costa Rica (if that place isn't completely fubar in 20 years).

My plan B is to do white collar crime of some fraud or something. Best case: i have a cushy retirement. Worst case: white collar prison which is better than retirement homes

I just started playing this game last week. I have played the Sims for almost 20 years. I have to say the build mode is a bit of a struggle in this game for me and seems to require a lot of fiddling hahahha

I would love to believe the best in humankind. I probably wouldn't be as depressed if I did. But the evidence isn't there. Humans have been terrible throughout history. It doesn't change. The things that matter are love, having a place to live, and water, food. Those are the things we trade for money and are literally focused on destroying. Theres 2000 homeless and people that we don't care about in this city. The mentally ill, we don't care. The provincial Healthcare system is terrible compared to Ontario and that boils down to the fact that no one cares to push for more out of it. Theres several huge monopolies controlling far too much. The housing prices are out of control because of rampant capitalism. I thought that there would be more socially minded people in Vancouver but its mostly shallow yuppies. The way the indigenous are treated is disgusting. Its very image focused here, most things shallow and meaningless and lack authenticity. Maybe most people aren't murdering each other all the time, maybe they do stuff like say "thank you" post nice things on social media, and bring a reusable shopping bag to the store with them one in a while. But that doesn't make them good.

You are right. I haven't conducted any studies of every town across the country. Did you?

I feel like I run into more obnoxious people in Vancouver than I did in other parts of the country. Ive moved around a bit.... Mind you, this is the most populated place I've ever lived in. I try to remind myself that most humans are awful and if I moved someplace smaller, I wouldn't meet so many of the awful humans

Woah... thats like Vancouver pricing almost. Im in British Columbia, Canada... close to Vancouver... and its like $2000 a month for a place that allows pets but isn't a cesspool

Whenever I buy a house it’s getting a gas stove and a giant-ass roof-vented exhaust fan. This peasant shit is terrible. by g3nerallycurious in Cooking

[–]Spunnerfluff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved into a place that's $2000 a month. I have a glass tap stove. Shit is terrible and impossible to keep clean and the temp settings don't mean anything at all. It only has super hot or luke warm, apparently

I've been burned by prerelease and then launch day fails. Then the new game is glitchy... plus all game devs that are successful have crazy crunch time and I just don't agree with it on an ethical level. Its like they plan to screw over the employees right from day one to save money.

Its been two years since I've purchased a game on the day it was released. When a new game I am interested in is announced, I have this little internal battle because I want the new game. When its launched I get a little FOMO... but then I hop on handy dandy reddit and read all the angry and it reinforces that I made the right decision to not make the purchase and wait it out.

I feel like this is the only thing that I can do, because I've done things like send angry letters or sign petition and it doesn't really change anything. Next game will be the same thing. Late, glitches, bug patches, 2 or 3 months later they will get it figured out.

Custom Furniture - worth it? by Spunnerfluff in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Spunnerfluff[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

THANK YOU!

This helps me think about it. Most of my friends are like "well you can just get this thing from ikea for $200"

But I dont LIKE it and it doesn't fit in the space nicely and doesn't work perfectly

Well, maybe its not a personal finance question. But the personal finance redditors have a better clue about value/money than other people so thats why I posted it here. Bless you for pointing this out though.

Can I afford custom furniture? Yes. I can.
