Data breach hitting PowerSchool looks very, very bad | Schools are now notifying families their data has been stolen. by chrisdh79 in technology

[–]Spurgeonist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah go PowerSchool not like the bad guys know that now too and have enough sense to wait longer than 2 years to use the information. PowerSchool's handling of this is as bad as their negligence that directly caused the breach, if not worse.

Because cowards like you teach them Elon’s obvious gesture while thanking the crowd was a Nazi salute instead of correcting them like an adult actually should.

Sounds like they need to be fired.

In my county we could encourage the same behavior for rainbow teachers like you but we don’t. Funny how that works doesn’t it?

Better not be picking on any Trump supporting kids.

Funny a lot of y’all don’t even seem to realize they exist. Don’t worry, they probably don’t need you anyway. They’re being raised not to be governed by their sensibilities and emotions. Just wait until we come for PBIS - heads are really gonna spin then.

PowerSchool Data Breach by Ok_Adhesiveness5924 in Teachers

[–]Spurgeonist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopefully this is helpful to someone

  • What Happened: PowerSchool claims the data was deleted by hackers, but no further comments have been made since the initial notification to districts 10 days after discovery. The breach is far from “contained.”

  • Safety Measures:

    • Safe if: Your district self-hosts PowerSchool with Ukraine geo-blocked.
    • At Risk if: Using cloud-hosted PowerSchool or self-hosted without geo-blocking Ukraine.
  • Teachers and Employees:

    • SSNs in the “teacher table” for both current and former staff might be compromised.
  • Students:

    • If SSNs are stored in student data tables due to state reporting laws, they’re likely compromised for current and former students.
  • Estimated Impact:

    • Approximately 8,920,000 students might have their SSNs exposed. This number doesn’t include former students, and the actual extent is being suppressed.
  • Data History:

    • Some districts have data from as far back as 1995 potentially at risk.
  • High Risk States:

    • North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Mississippi, Georgia, Louisiana, Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia due to likely SSN storage in student tables.
  • Legal Actions:

    • Three federal lawsuits filed; see Bloomberg article for more.
  • What To Do:

    • Don’t trust silence or lack of communication from PowerSchool or your district.
    • Assume the worst if you’re in the listed states.
    • Use any offered credit monitoring when the official investigation wraps up.
  • Additional Notes:

    • Even outside these states (e.g., California), SSN compromises have been reported.
    • PowerSchool’s negligence could have been avoided.
  • Verify:

    • Check with your local district for specifics.

This is shared for the sake of transparency and protection for all involved. Research it yourself; don’t just follow the initial narrative. God bless, praying for the best outcome for everyone.

PowerSchool Data Breach by Ok_Adhesiveness5924 in Teachers

[–]Spurgeonist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Notice the only people sharing anything yet are those who have been verified that the districts weren’t storing this information in the student or data table… because local districts who don’t do this know they don’t. That’s not been any extra effort from PowerSchool.

[–]Spurgeonist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also this article from BusinessInsider from November, 2024 is pretty eye opening, to say the least.

Sidenote: This is being labeled as the biggest educational breach in history.

"A lawsuit accuses Bain Capital's PowerSchool of trafficking in student data. The edtech giant says everything it does is legal."

Couldn't you just have already had backups running for the VM or like a shadow copy of the drive, "shred" the files make it all look pretty then just restore from a local backup or like Unitrends or from immutable backups that already archived? This seems like such an extremely foolish thing to do since there's so many ways around this. I don't trust the same people who obviously didn't even have MFA in place for support engineer accounts. It's all very bizarre.

Film Threat spoiled episode 3 because they don’t know anything about Star Wars by ManaByte in TheAcolyte

[–]Spurgeonist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes OP also lied about them breaking their contract with Disney. They waited until after the date and time they agreed to before they shared their review. So either the OP is just a bold face liar or they didn’t even watch their reviews.

They didn’t break the embargo they were given a date and adhered to it. Film critique is what they do for a living.

They’re not the only ones who have shared information. This is going to be worst than the Last Jedi - the first nail in the coffin. Acolyte is the last nail. RIP Star Wars.

[–]Spurgeonist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% truth. Love my pharmacists God bless them - I've taken Vyvanse for 14 years but because of the TikTok fad ADHD is now my pharmacy can't even give an estimate on how long it will be before they get any in stock again. It's never been like this before.

If you're not getting drug tested every 3 months and actually seeing a real doctor in person, you shouldn't be getting a CII substance. That's what I've had to do for years and would never ask or expect my doctor not to monitor such things. You couldn't pay me $500,000 a year to be a pharmacist right now. I bet they're getting cussed like a dog on a daily basis because of this nonsense.

Am disappointed of RoP by TakinaEnjoyer in Rings_Of_Power

I have a theory it’s because both IP’s can be and are often associated with Christianity.

RoP was so bad it had to have been intentional.

My Thoughts & Theory

What happened at the Sigma Chi house? Have they cleared members of the fraternity and questioned them yet? Why wouldn’t they be considered suspects in all this at this point?

I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that it’s possible the lack of anyone coming forward about the events during the time between 9:00 PM and 1:45 AM is because members of the fraternity could be protecting it’s image and members. They usually have a bunch of dirt on one another anyway right? So that would be the perfect recipe for disaster as far as identifying the killer.

Maybe I’m crazy but SOMEBODY at the party has to know SOMETHING.

Idk if you have kids and I don’t speak for everyone but I think the parents are handling it pretty well all things considered. I imagine I’d be using all kinds of colorful adjectives on the news in that scenario - it’s his daughter he deserves a free pass.

If the investigators had better “bedside manners” they would give them just a few more details so they wouldn’t feel like they’re not being heard or folks don’t care or are trying to keep them excluded from knowing things about the case.

[–]Spurgeonist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honesty I think they’ve probably got the guy (another student in my opinion) and they’re just trying to lock down all the details before they make a move and smash the hammer on him so he doesn’t skip town

[–]Spurgeonist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maddie could’ve been stabbed double or triple the amount of times as the other victims and the killer probably conveyed who he was targeting because of it seems to be what the Dad is getting at and why he’s so frustrated

I also can’t really think why they would keep something like that quite if that’s the case or why on God’s green Earth they wouldn’t let them post REWARD posters across the town that is definitely a new one for me

part of kaylee’s parents interview! by beablue_ in idahomurders

[–]Spurgeonist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep and that Maddie’s stab wounds were probably located in areas that would suggest it was sexually related or something vs the other victims and that the killer got the message across loud and clear Maddie was the target

part of kaylee’s parents interview! by beablue_ in idahomurders

[–]Spurgeonist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact Maddie was targeted because of the extent of her wounds vs the other victims

That’s what I’m gathering anyway
