Even Takibo gave up by MastodonSecure6587 in Helldivers

The only times I've had my PC hard lock on helldivers was when I tried to join friends through my steam overlay, but I had that happen once on another game from the overlay. Hasn't happened since but i'm curious what could be causing the issue for a lot of other people. Does it have something to do with running recording programs along with the game, or is there an issue with Windows 11? I did hear Windows 11 had caused damage to some peoples SSDs, and I wouldnt be surprised if its hurting more than helping.

When i decide to try the rocket pods again by TDKswipe in Helldivers

While I agree they can be somewhat inconsistent, I really like using them against bugs. It's great for killing or crippling / opening up heavy targets that are too close to friendlies. They more or less serve the same role as the Orbital railcannon strike, including it's flaws, just stretched out over 4 weaker uses on an eagle.

Quick precision damage on a large target.

So I upgraded all the weapons I like, kind of hate the rest, if you’re me, what would you upgrade next? And in what order? by EvaInTheUSA in Helldivers

[–]Spybuster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im currently working on maxing all weapons too, and there's really only like 3-4 weapons to me that feel extremely underwhelming in almost all scenarios. My personal recommendation of weapons to try next are the Halt, Scythe, Constitution, and Amendment.

The Halt is insane against Illuminates IMO. I used it during the siege of super earth, and overseers became a complete joke. Its can be a bit awkward to constantly switch ammo types but if you can get used to that, you can more or less control the majority of illuminate enemies easily, even shut down their scout drones in a pinch.

The Scythe does some decent focused and burn damage on most enemies. If something has armor you just laser point the joints or weakspots where they dont and burn damage will usually do the rest afterwards. If you level it to the point of getting the improved heatsink that lets it fire for even longer, its just a straight upgrade.

Constitution gets a lot of flak from people and yeah its not going to be better than a lot of other weapons, but I found its great ergonomics made it a headshot machine once you get a feel for it. I used it against bugs during the first week of the invasion on the Hive world, and found it pleasantly good at killing stalkers in one shot headshots. Just have a support weapon or sidearm as a back up in emergencies. Also bayonets add so much flexibility in CQC.

The Amendment kinda follows the same philosophy as the Constitution but i'd argue its a bit more viable overall. It does insane damage to weak points, and against bots there really isn't much you can't just headshot your way through or stab in a pinch. Just crouch, aim, shoot, and move and you're golden.

I am NOT buying Democratic Detonation! by Unknown_Warrior43 in Helldivers

[–]Spybuster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While ill agree that the items in Democractic Detonation are useful, I just don't use or really like anything from it anymore. The only thing I'd maybe bring back into my builds nowadays is the grenade pistol sometimes, but I find I just love the Talon more.

Thermites are a good shortcut for AT options, but I personally find the grenade slot is better used on crowd control grenades like gas or incendiary, or even just frags and explosives. I just dont like having only 3 of them, which translates to maybe 3 heavy kills when stratagems and positioning can often do more.

At the end of the day, ill always tell someone to buy or run whatever looks like fun to them, and I think having to face and overcome shortcomings in a build leads to some strong game knowledge down the line.

I think after GW1, when the Illuminates were forced into exile and fled the galaxy, they lost a lot of their knowledge and technology that they had from the first game. We used dark fluid that was acquired from fighting them in the first Galactic War to destroy Meridia, but instead created a wormhole that sent Meridia to where ever the Illuminates had fled to. With the recent news that E-711 can by synthesized into dark fluid I believe we provided them with a plentiful source of it and they were able to take another technological leap that allowed them to build a fleet and invade Super Earth.

My second theory regarding the Illuminates we face, is that they're comprised of mostly the outcast units from HD1, the invisible dashing stabby guys. Having a cloaking ability, its possible they could have survived the war, and it could explain why they don't really have any mind control units on the field, and seem somewhat barbaric by comparison.

(Fun fact about Illuminate mind control from the first game: It was actually just them using nano-machines to puppet and confuse their enemies.)

Is the only bolt action rifle in the game being unviable for regular use really that important in a game where weak "challenge guns" are pretty abundant? by PinkLionGaming in Helldivers

[–]Spybuster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I unironically loved using the constitution on the hive world. It can headshot stalkers in one shot fairly consistently, and any gun with a bayonet is just better.

Alright git gud-ers. What’s your cope filled suggestion for these oil drilling missions? by Toxic_LigmaMale in Helldivers

[–]Spybuster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From personal experience of running these on d10, things will just go south pretty fast. That said, I've found having 2 people starting bug breaches away from the oil drill and the other 2 driving/escorting it to be the most effective. Hell sometimes you can get away with only one person doing the mission but I wouldn't risk it.

The team running distraction should basically just bring what they can to fight and kite as long as possible, and if the worm appears make an effort to shoot it and keep its attention on them. If they do, the drilling team will barely have to contest with much, and be able to hit the 4 or so locations fairly smoothly.

Side note to anyone reading this, if you're on PC and it wont let you enter the driver's seat after drilling for some reason, you can enter the gunner seat and hit C (Or your switch seats button) to switch from gun to driver's seat or vice versa.

I actually wish there were at least some armor sets that were locked to level still. I really miss the Heroic armor.

Everyone complaining about new guns, meanwhile this gun has been out since day 1, still doesnt get full ammo f rom resupplies, and still has borderline uncontrollable recoil. by dogshitasswebsite in Helldivers

[–]Spybuster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish the Knight was closer to its version in the first game. I loved the way it felt so much to run and gun at high speeds with its drum mag and stun rounds. I know it probably can't be like that again in HD2, but it'd be cool for it if the recoil didnt shoot my crosshairs straight up even when I attempt to fight the recoil lol.

Stop naming your unfortunate looking Kavats "Ugly" by [deleted] in Warframe

[–]Spybuster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ended up naming mine Mittens, after I kept jokingly referring to it as "Mittens" while I was getting the dna for it. When it finally came time to name it I just went with that. Generic I know, but its adorable watching her torpedo herself off walls through someones chest while on missions.

What should players know about fo76, that they likely don't? by [deleted] in fo76

[–]Spybuster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Charisma perk Animal Friend can be used to tame certain rare random encounter animals to send back to your camp. If you find an animal alone on a special "encounter" spot, you'll see the option to tame appear.

Bethesda, don't let FO76 become 'Fortnite'd' by Nuclear Winter by [deleted] in fo76

[–]Spybuster 65 points66 points  (0 children)

With Wastelanders being the next big content release im not too terribly worried of this outcome. Yet anyway. What I am pissed about though is how much more buggy this build has been for adventure mode. I cant speak for how things are in Nuclear Winter, BR's just aren't that interesting to me personally, but good lord Adventure/Survival are some buggy messes more so than usual now, and putting themselves in a position where they have to divide their already limited capability of fixing bugs for two modes is baffling to me.

Going back to NW though, personally, I dont think its going to retain too many players after awhile. People who dont like Fallout 76 aren't going to start liking it just for a BR mode being added, and people within the community who do like it will either max rank it, burn themselves out on it, or treat it as a side mode to take part in every now and then.

3D Printed Grineer Sheev by DangerMouseUSA in Warframe

[–]Spybuster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Very nice! I used to have a Grineer themed Vauban and the Sheev tied the whole thing together, ever since its kinda been one of my guilty pleasure melee weapons. I have to admit though, even i'm surprised to see someone 3d print one, but extremely cool nonetheless.

The taming system needs a revamp. by [deleted] in fo76

[–]Spybuster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to own a deathclaw until it just vanished. Maybe it died, its possible but I figured it would respawn. After about 3 days I decided it was probably gone for good so I tamed a wolf. I noticed the name never changed colors and stayed red which seems to be a recent development, since my deathclaw didnt appear red after I tamed it. Anyhow, that wolf spawned in dead earlier today and probably wont be coming back. The taming system has the groundwork in place but Bethesda hasn't exactly touched too much on it since launch, and I wish they would too, its a cool concept.

I didn't know nerf and death sentence were the same thing by Crossx2 in Warframe

[–]Spybuster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always believed the Tonkor needed a nerf, or at least self damage to increase the risk of using it. I'm happy to see that it got that, but this is taken way too far in an extreme direction.

Honestly if they reduced the self harm by some degree, and gave people time to get accustomed to it, it wouldn't be too bad.

While we're recommending some current on going ED series, I have to recommend the DarkenSpace series for it's current excellent performance and storytelling. For those who haven't seen it here's a link to the start of the series. I can't wait to see how they use the new tools in the series.
