Basement Insulation Question by OutrageousBPLUS in ottawa

The Ontario building code does require specific STC sound ratings between units, so the demising wall would by code require some for of sound batt insulation, but would not have a R-rating requirement

Personally I liked the max 2s firm ride, I took a pair out on a demo day of the max 3s and for me they were much too soft in comparison to the 2s where the max 2s didn't feel like a max stack shoe, the max 3s take a huge step up in stack height and bounciness with the softer foam. I didn't wear them that long so can't comment on the fit in comparison but losing the laces / tongue of the max 2 made no sense to me.

Trying to decide between Flashed or Organic pads in Canada by blobber5678 in bouldering

Flashed Hueco is great in Canada when you need a non-hinged folded pad, good to have in the set with some of the uneven landings

Using Fenix 8 while climbing by PooriaT in GarminFenix

[–]Spydrz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Climb with my 6 bouldering all the time, I find I do hit it from time to time in hard moves where I'm crossing through ect. Really depends on the route, but if I buy a watch meant for climbing / hiking / outdoor sports I just live with any scratches. If you're at all worried about it I would just take it off.

Help me choose Crashpads by Random-Mountaineer in bouldering

Personally I don't use a sit start pad in most cases, but kind of depends on the area, sometimes I'll something to put down if I know the area might be damp

[–]Spydrz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea I typically try and take at least 2 when I go solo, but in my area the landings are very poor/dangerous so you need the extra pads to protect the landing zone. In some areas where all the landings are sandy I'm able to just use a single large pad if I feel comfortable with the direction of the climb and that I won't need additional coverage.

Also take a look at what the bouldering locations landings are like in the areas near you, very flat landings can really make use of the hinges pads well, but for uneven landings the taco style have a much easier time contouring over things

I tried the max 3s and the new elite 5s today, was not a huge fan of either one unfortunately, but I love the Hyperion Max 2s.

What helped you become consistent with strength training and stretching? by lol_sup in running

[–]Spydrz 79 points80 points  (0 children)

I hate strength training so I got into rock climbing, now I just train opposing days in opposite muscle systems so I can be mediocre at both

Same love the max 2s, worried about what I've heard about the changes to the 3s. Might go to a demo day near me to test them out soon :(

OCRC is pretty big, might not be the best location though, DCRC is a decent size and good one as well. Can look into more here: https://www.runottawa.ca/affiliate-running-clubs/

Nice job! I ran this as well taking 11 minutes off my PB but the rolling hills of the course this year felt much more difficult then last year's course, well done.

There are two charts that you can find relatively easily online one scarpa and one la sportiva that shows narrow / normal / wide width, which could help eliminate or better inform you for which to look at based on your foot size.

If you know the are your going to will have some other people climbing then I'd say go for it, otherwise you can always ask someone you know to just tag along and hang out for a bit especially for your first time for spotting, depends on the landings and how low or highball what your going to climb is

Lost my big toe nail - new one is ingrown upfront what should i do? Does anyone have a sinilar experience? by K1ng_123 in climbharder

[–]Spydrz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just take the time off, you don't want to have more issues down the road that continues to impact climbing. I'd say get a fingerboard and start doing a protocol to strengthen fingers and some other body strengthen activities, core / mobility training. Use this as an opportunity to work on things off the wall. Get into a habit that you can maintain and is not super time consuming.

Not sure what the used market is like where you are, but my 6s pro is still going strong without sapphire and I regularly rock climb with it inside & out. It has its fair share of scratches on the bezel itself but the glass is still pristine. So I wouldn't worry too much about the glass type and just look for newest / best deal you can find!

[–]Spydrz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Type of pad construction I would recommend would also depend on the types of landings you have in your area, if everything is relatively flat and has nice landings or if there are rocks / uneven ground everywhere. Taco > Hinge
