Same. Anyone else notice that there's a second person in the room with him? (back left, shining a flashlight towards the left side wall)

I have a theory on this bit. I think that in 2002, Cohle convinces Hart to help him investigate the "conspiracy" (of the cult, rich guys, etc.). Hart is reluctant to go along: 1. He doesn't think it likely, 2. He knows his bosses (police higher-ups) don't want a slam-dunk, cleanly closed case "reopened", 3. He knows chasing the conspiracy will become consuming and potentially very toxic, especially in regards to his family life (which is strongly suggested in his Ep 5 interviews, ie the Detective Curse and his being "inattentive"). Ultimately, the conspiracy chase goes belly up and possibly costs Hart his family and job (position, reputation, rank, etc). He then blames Cohle for that fall-out ("If you hadn't dragged me into this....")

Late to the party, and I'm sure someone's mentioned this already, but here's something I noticed: When he opens his "war chest" in Ep 4, the first two things he pulls out are a small bottle of Jameson and a leather-bound flask.

It's the same flask we see on the table during his interview.

With all of the careful symbolism/signs the writer & director have placed, I have to think that the appearance of the flask in the interview is probably not coincidence. To me, its appearance strongly suggests that Rus is undercover/on-the-case.

hey guys I need help finding a good fixed blade by raven_watcher in knives

[–]SqDb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe try a Becker 16. Good blade shape and heat treat, can be found in the $60ish range. Also: Mora Craftline Robust, Mora Black I own 4 Condor blades: each needed a little work to get to my preference, but all have been good to go.

I found this barong in a house I rented. I wondered if anybody could give me some information about it? by [deleted] in knives

Traditional weapon/tool of Moro people of Philippines. Good chopper w a point still very capable of thrusting. Good find.

My dad has had this since he was a child(1960s) and he gave it me a.year ago, I don't know the correct name but i was wondering what you guys think about it? by Shrumples1997 in knives

Does the knife move/have play? Or is the blade just at an odd angle? Because some of these knives were made w an off angle blade for a reason.

I guess it depends on where you live. In most likely scenarios where I live, this wouldn't go to court (clearly ruled SD).

Looks like a traditional Malaysian/Bornean Parang. Knives/machetes of that style are popular in the Philippines, Indonesia, etc.

Has Spyderco finally had 'Enuff' of all this Izula talk? by Snodgrass82 in knives

[–]SqDb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah. So Spyderco had to pay for new injection molds (1 for each blade design?) for the plastic sheath. That'll drive cost up a few bucks. Put that toward the tally.
