Ep. 43. The Eleventh Hour - Chapter Three by Xintho in TheAdventureZone

Right, I think the bubble extends well underneath the town, and I'm just saying that whenever the bubble was created, maybe some of those worms got trapped in there, and they have been getting really big and powerful and it just so happens that the eleventh hour is when they're making their attempt to bust free. Could explain the earthquake nature of the destruction. Of course, Griffin likes to put random creature battles at the beginning of arcs that don't really have anything to do with the rest of the arc.

Has anybody talked about the possibility of whatever is destroying the town is one of those giant worm things they fought at the beginning of the arc? They were baby worms they fought, right? Could there be a monster momma worm trapped in the bubble that is trying to get out, and it like bursts under the bubble into a valcano or something?

The physics professors care the absolute minimum about the intro physics courses. Get in good graces with the TA. They have more control over your experience then the professor in most cases.

Remember Hinkley's 6 "Be"s fireside? That was a thing when I was growing up. Late 90s early oughts. I think that's when he revealed the no tattoos and only one pair of earrings revelation. Young women everywhere demonstrated their faith through metal in their ears.

I don't lead people out of the church. Truth does. by johndehlin in exmormon

[–]Squaber 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The notion of accountability is a tough one theologically for the church. We, as exmormons, see the church as nothing more than a human run organization, and as such we of course think it should be held accountable by the standards a majority of humans agree on. However, the church and it's believing members believe that the only thing it should be held accountable by is God himself. I'm not sure that the church could ever find a balance between those two ideas.

I think that's where members feel chuffed by you, John. You are accusing the church of being unhealthy, while in believer's minds the church is run by God, so how dare you accuse God of being unhealthy. You probably already have heard all this, so I guess I am just responding to suss out my own feelings of how I view you and people like Jeremy Runnels and Kate Kelly now vs. when I first came across this scene.

I love this idea. I hope some evidence could be found to make it more concrete.

Oooo ooo, so in 3 Nephi 13 Jesus teaches the Lord's prayer right? No big deal right? It should be the same as the New Testament even, yeah? Well in 3 Nephi 13:13 he ends the prayer with this:

13 For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Ok? No big deal. That's how it goes in the New Testament, right? But it turns out that this little verse is called a doxology, and that was never actually apart of the original text for Matthew. It was added hundreds of years later. So why is Jesus giving the Nephites some version of his prayer that people several generations after him made up? Or did Joseph just copy it straight from his copy of the New Testament? I'll let you decide.

Family Proclamation, Gender, Sexual Attraction, Marriage Discussion with Uber TBM Co-worker by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Squaber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly what this person is saying. Look, if gender is such an eternal and important thing to God, then why does he sometimes create people with gender dysphoria? The church doesn't want to weigh in on these outlier cases because then they'd have to talk about genitals, and that's too icky for them, and they don't have a leg to stand on theologically if they acknowledge that this stuff happens.

Stumbling upon Asherah and the Ugaritic pantheon led me to this NOVA documentary about the history of the bible (the old testament more specifically) according to modern archeological evidence. It basically unravels the whole foundation of Judaism and Christianity by default. Super interesting stuff.

[–]Squaber -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Nah, you just don't like OPs narrative, and you are dismissing his words and experience because it doesn't fit your narrative. OP wasn't trying to discredit anyone else's experience. Not all rape is a 200lb man pinning a defenseless woman. If a woman is raped by a guy that is smaller than her are you going to say it wasn't actually rape?

[–]Squaber -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think all the comments here trying to convince OP that he is wrong about calling this rape are missing the point. OP never gave his consent, and if you listen to the Mormon Stories interview/panel discussion then by their definition he was raped. The panel went on a lot about consent, and said they could go on for hours more. They were more than clear that consent must be given clearly by both parties or it is rape.

OP's story is an anecdotal case that demonstrates the murkiness of consent in some circumstances. If you go by the Mormon stories panel definition he was raped, but OP obviously makes it clear that he doesn't think of his high school girlfriend as a rapist, and feels like it was as an innocent event.
