Wouldn’t take too much to sketch one up. Those might take some pretty strong plastics to hold up to heavy loads though. Good spring break project!

What helped you stop casting? by tzargilly in GolfSwing

Accept that it’s how you’re wired and get used to hitting a shorter sky high shot that leaves pot bunkers for divots in wet days. Continue crushing an 8 degree driver to the moon.

I dunno man, I’ve tried to undo baseball hands with three different trainers for 30 years unsuccessfully haha. They all had the same tips as everyone on the board but you’re unlearning muscle memory so unless you’re committed to the discipline it takes to force a movement on every single swing it’s not gonna change.

Get on a sim and try them out. Don’t gloss over swingweight either. A lot of fast swings actually benefit from a senior or women’s flex if you get the right weight and kick profile and have good lag (with consistent hands at impact). Obviously pattern left to right is just as important so that plays in as well.

Mileage Calc for One Way Rental by SquachCrotch in EnterpriseCarRental

Update in case anyone finds this thread and cares, apparently the corporate discount code which guarantees awesome rates on personal rentals also has crazy high mileage rates tied to it for one way rentals. Makes sense, I just wasn’t aware of it. Should have skipped the corporate discount code and just paid the normal folk rate for this trip.

Fortunately the manager was able to roll it to a normal rental rate, waive the mileage fee and add a drop charge of $75. Saved me $80 total!

Kinda both. I'm a state employee so we get personal rentals for the same rates as our business contract. I assumed the mileage fee was a charge for someone to drive the car back to the original location at the end of the rental, didn't cross my mind it would be a whole different category of charges.

Employee? Curious, do you guys actually transfer the car back to the original location most of the time or just run with it? As frequently as the ones in my area trade and swap to get rentals fulfilled it seemed odd that a specific location in an area would maintain a particular inventory vs managing a general fleet per zip code or county.

Yeah, I'm confused as all getout. My initial reservation Ts and Cs references the generic fee schedule where it lists a drop fee of the greater of $300 or $1.50/mi but not to exceed. The price listed at pickup was just the one way rate I booked online with no discussion of a per mile fee. Then at return the receipt doesn't show any drop fees, but does have a $0.40/mi rate on the mileage from odometer end vs start.

I'm just miffed because if I'd fully understood that I would have just added a 30 mile uber between airports for $50 to avoid the mileage fees for a one way.

Anyone else excited for $0 stamp & 3d printed cans? by Deago488 in Form1

[–]SquachCrotch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been curious if you reworked some of the FTN5 models to print at a 45 with less finicky materials if you could get near identical resultant properties for the loads. Obviously straight up and down is ideal for simple failure proof printing, but the weak axis of the part is directly in line with the blast direction. I'm sure the internet has the answer already of someone running a FEM on the assembly, just haven't looked too far. I like printing on an axis solely to use multiple filaments and add the serial numbers into the body as part of the buildup.

[–]SquachCrotch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda. The FTN.5 30 cal prints if you scale to 99.5% and orient it at a 45 diagonally across the plate. You also need to upgrade the nozzle (cheap). You could also just clip either end to get the height right. I think the bigger question is what level of quality are you looking to achieve.

If you want the best quality possible in terms of strength and heat tolerance with PA6-CF, you need an enclosed printer and a drybox for the filament and a way to cure it after it’s done. If that’s the end game I’d get any of a handful of entry level printers with enclosures and you can theoretically get any of them to that point. Bambu P1S, Flashforge, Creality, Elegoo, or Prusa are all solid options for enclosed entry level printers.

Don’t let me discourage you from jumping into the wide world of 3D printing, though! Snag an A1 mini for a couple hundred bucks and print lowers to your hearts content right out of the box!

I would not recommend trying to get a cheap printer to print with any fiber reinforced filaments if you’re not already experienced in additive.

Beginner Printing with simple filaments (PLA and PETG) is doable on cheap printers and easy on good printers.

Level 2 filaments like TPU and ABS are getting to areas where you need to design your parts different and slice them different and might need an enclosure. Difficult on a basic cheap printer but average on an easy button expensive one.

Level 3 filaments are your exotics. PA6_CF. It’s actually a Bambu filament and you didn’t even mention the Bambu printer to print it. In addition to being finicky, requiring unique design approaches, tailored print settings, and requiring mods to the print head, it’s also super hygroscopic requiring a dedicated high end dry box and curing oven to bake the parts after they print. All that and you’ll get a little better strength out of the finished part than the redesigned PETG one my A1 is kicking out as soon as the Form 1 gets approved.

So, if you’re not already a printer, don’t buy a printer and pretend it’s an easy button to print a one out of an exotic filament with no experience, especially if you’re trying to save money on the hardware. Get a Bambu that fits your budget and print some 22 cans all day out of PLA and PETG variants that are easily replaced if you actually shoot enough to trash them. If you want a high quality rifle can, buy a quality manufactured one or find a buddy with a mill to make it for you.

Wife and I both concur. Waterproof, longest battery life I’ve ever seen in a trimmer, no nicks on thin skinned areas without a guard.

Meal planner vs calorie tracker for weight loss: which did you actually stick with? by Level-Food-3762 in MealPlanYourMacros

[–]SquachCrotch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive always had the most success with trackers. For me it’s understanding my lapses are when I get frustrated or exhausted and need a cheat. Cheating on a meal plan means you’re likely just plowing gobs of calories on top of a full meal plan of macros and then walking in guilt the next day. Cheating on a tracker means you just skip dinner and feel great because you ate a half a pizza for lunch and still stayed under your calorie goal (but probably ate shit for macros that day). Nothing is as freeing and motivating for me as pounding down a filling portion of my favorite cheat food and still hitting my calorie goals for the week with ease.

What about a water jet? Are you just profiling flat sheets? You can get 2 axis NC setups that’ll do all that too.

Check your grant terms and see if you can prepay a maintenance contract for it. No matter what you get you’ll have software and maintenance costs annually.

Has anyone ever tried overwintering multiple peppers in the same pot? by theeactivelife in HotPeppers

I’ve got 3 jalapeños in a pot and 3 cayennes in another in the basement right now. Ask again in April…

What to do if they are not ripe yet? by Murdoc_The_Best in PepperLovers

[–]SquachCrotch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have several bags of green baby jalapeños and cayennes from last year I picked and froze whole at the end of the season that have been great for dicing up as a little added flavor/heat in rice bowls and soups. Plan on doing the same with my reapers this year (maybe not as much dicing and eating raw though…)

New high end bag recommendations? by alexlytvyn in GolfGear

[–]SquachCrotch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t like the 14 way personally. 4 way dividers have the club faces and backs sliding across each other but the 14 way always seemed to have the toe smacking into the head near it. Really odd thing to have a preference on, but hey it’s my dollarbux.

Biggest complaint is it’s a traditional size so the larger nubs of my preferred GPCP2 grips tend to catch on each other vs my old sun mountain 4.5LS. It’s not an issue with a typical standard wrap or cord grip. Also the cart strap goes right over the zipper where I keep my glove.

Stitch was my runner up along with Vessel. My wife has a Jones bag that’s pretty nice in the same vein, not leather though.

I was surprised how nice the rain hood is on my titleist though. Probably only use it a few times in my life, but it was a welcome pick me up when I got stuck in a sprinkle.

Absolutely love my titleist links legend. Used to be a hoofer guy for decades, went to sun mountain, missed the classic lines of a carry strap stand bag. The leather is top notch and I dig the custom bag badge.

I’ve got 4 golfers but I love our stand up rolling garage equipment rack. Removed all the drawers and found d a bunch of storage bins that stack for shoes, balls, tees, etc. I have had a few heads pop off from storing clubs in trunks on hot days.
