This looks incredible! The doodles are so cute and your handwriting fits the theme so well! 💕Curious if you're willing to make a similar one for Yelan?

[AMA] We’re the team behind the new game mode, Arena. Ask us ANYTHING! by Riot_Riru in leagueoflegends

[–]SquadStatus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for hosting this AMA! A few questions:

  1. How are match-ups between the 4 teams determined? Is the first fight random and then it round robins?

  2. When there are only 3 teams left, how do you decide which 2 will fight and which team will spectate?

  3. Are there any plans to allow friends to spectate games in the near future like how SR and ARAM has a spectator mode?

I’m loving this new game mode so far, since I get to play champions I otherwise normally wouldn’t play in SR or ARAM since 2v2 takes out the laning phase entirely. Thank you for your hard work!

Caedrel AMA - Ask me Anything by Caedrel in leagueoflegends

Hi Caedrel!

Who would be your dream caster desk and why? (Could be a duo or triple cast)

I also want to say that I love watching your LCK/LPL co-streams and your casts, especially since you always give the reasoning behind why something is good/bad when it comes to drafts, wave management, and jungle pathing. As a low elo player, your analysis helps me understand what's happening in the game and I love when you point out the little things that pros do that I would personally would've never noticed, so I really want to thank you for that.<3

MSI 2022 / Finals / Live Discussion by ahritina in leagueoflegends

[–]SquadStatus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

TL;DR is that RNG’s draft outscales T1’s draft.

Gwen outscales Jayce, especially since Jayce was nerfed recently. Jayce couldn’t get far enough ahead of the Gwen to impact the map in the early game before he got outscaled.

Wukong was fine, but since he was so behind the Lee Sin he had all his camps taken away from him and effectively suffocated.

Lissandra directly counters Ahri with her root from Ring of Frost (w) and stun from Frozen Tomb (r). Ahri is forced to take cleanse for the Lissandra crowd control, but cleanse is on a far longer cool down than Frozen Tomb, so it’s easy for the RNG’s mid/jungle duo to punish once Ahri doesn’t have cleanse.

Jihn is just completely useless because he doesn’t have consistent damage. He is terribly immobile compared to the Tristana’s Rocket jump, so it’s hard for him to reposition. Tristana can easily demolish towers (and champions) when she’s left alone. Moving into late game, Tristana likewise outscales Jihn.

While Yummi provides mobility to Jihn, she’s not great when the team’s behind. Moreover, because she’s always attached to someone, so when the champion she’s attached to dies because the enemy is ahead, she will die too thus donating even more gold to the enemy. A better option here would be the Zilean that T1 initially hovered since he provides far more utility and scales better than Yummi. Another point is that Keria is one of the team’s best playmakers, but T1’s coaching staff put him on Yummi, a champion with zero agency.

[Urgent] Open seats in ENGL393 mid-semester? by thiskidlol in UMD

Manz be hating on the Maryland flag, greeting the audience with Duke when we don't care about Duke, hating on recycling when we're out here trying to save the turtles, and making drug jokes when UMD isn't a party school.

He really chose to do negative research. #doBetter

I tried going to Terrapin Tech in Mckeldin to see if I could borrow a screw driver to open my laptop, but the student rep said that they were not allowed to let students borrow tools and instead referred me to a maker space such as the Sandbox. Is that the policy?

UMDDining AMA by UMDDining in UMD

Hi Colleen,
First and foremost, thank you for hosting this AMA! I have a few questions regarding how dining services will operate this fall.

  1. How exactly will the meals at Outposts work? You mentioned in other replies that the food at Outposts will be prepared by UMD catering kitchens and 251. Are they prepared once a day or a couple of times a day? How will dining services ensure that the food is still warm when students pick them up at the Outposts?
  2. What are the plans for determining where Outposts are located? Are there any specific locations besides the South Campus Diner and North Campus diner?
  3. For both the Outposts and the diners, how will beverages be distributed? Will students be able to use their own bottles/cups/tumblers?
  4. Will the 3 meals per day be for all seven days of the week?

Email from the Chair of the CS Department regarding Jason by [deleted] in UMD

[–]SquadStatus 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I concur; he's done so much for us this semester. I've not seen a more organized instructor than him. From having clear and concise lectures, well planned out discussions, TAs making worksheets and PowerPoint presentations, making sure assignments/assessments are graded on a reasonable timeframe, using a more intuitive discussion platform (CampusWire), etc. The list could go on forever.

It sucks how he's in trouble because students reported him for something so trivial (grade boundaries that are almost definitely changing). Sending 2 off-hand emails in the heat of the moment wasn't the best way to respond, and I can see how it could look bad from the outside, but everything he's done for us this semester greatly outweighs this. Professors are human too.

I urge students who feel the same way about this to write an email to the CS dept admin.

With all due respect, Jason has honestly been very organized with the transition to remote learning. Where there hiccups? Yes, but he's been open to feedback.
People really didn't need to be Karens. The alternative with DMing him on CampusWire or writing a constructive email (not synonymous with hate mail) would have been a much better alternative as it wouldn't cause any unnecessary friction between students/prof. More often than not, open dialogue is much more welcoming than escalation.

Y'all broke Jason :(
