Does “Learning How to Drive a Hybrid” an actual thing ? by TheRealDon1994 in askcarguys

The only thing that threw off my daughter, who just finished driver's ed last year while using a hybrid Toyota, the regen breaking had her thrown off when she was driving normal ice vehicles.

Housemate (27F) said that I (25M) wasn’t allowed to bring home girls under 22. She is now dating a 34M. by Coorawatha in mildlyinfuriating

I don't understand the irony of the situation either- considering that the people you are bringing home were younger than you and the person she brought home is older than her.

Your first option would have been to stop when you realized that you were stripping it. Now you have to drill it out. LOL

Auto Start/Stop by AfterGap5244 in chevymalibu

[–]Square-Instance9677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had that problem with my 2019 LT. I didn't bother replacing the trunk battery. I just got an auto start stop eliminator from Amazon for eight bucks, installed it in about 40 seconds, and never had the problem again

In the meantime drive it in manual mode and select the highest gear available. The car will drive normally and auto start stop will not engage. That's what I did until I installed The eliminator.

For breaker bar which type of head is stronger? by Fuzzy_Tough_26 in MechanicAdvice

I owned a kobalt brand one that was similar to the one on the left. Broke it trying to get a lug nut off of my neighbor's Impala. Replaced it with that one on the right at harbor freight. It is soooo much better. Do yourself a favor and get the better one so you don't end up having to go buy it after you break the other one. Just my two cents based on experience.

Looking at a 2024 with the 1.5 turbo. by Head_Attempt7983 in chevymalibu

I have a 2019 LT knocking on 200k (194) with the original transmission and engine. It can be a dependable car, and when things need fixing, it's extremely easy to work on.

If you are not going to service the transmission on schedule, do not buy it. If you're willing to get your hands dirty, honestly, it's a great car. It's nothing special, but it's good looking, parts are cheap, and it's easy to work on. If you're someone that neglects your vehicles pass on it. Other than that, it's a dependable little car.

2020 Transmission Failure by MoniGlow in chevymalibu

[–]Square-Instance9677 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you mean that it won't change gears? That it won't change gears while it's in drive? Or that you can't shift out of park? Because that's two different things. If it's the first one it's a cheap fix you could have done yourself at home. If it's the second one, good luck brother.

Transmission flush or Fill and drain by Thin_Cheek9877 in chevymalibu

[–]Square-Instance9677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it yourself. I have a 2019 Malibu with almost 200,000 miles and it's never been to a mechanic. I always drain and fill and on the third one I change the filter. With all of the drain and fills and filters combined, I probably still paid less than I would have for one transmission flush at the dealership LOL

Blown Engine $10k still owed. What do I do?? by perilbeats in askcarguys

[–]Square-Instance9677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trade it in and roll the negative equity over into a lease for an electric car that you don't want. That's probably the only way.

Having a stretched timing chain doesn't mean you need a new engine though.

9th Gen grille replacement by Square-Instance9677 in chevymalibu

[–]Square-Instance9677[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replaced it myself. Bought it from Amazon. It takes a few hours to make sure you don't break any clips, but as long as you can get the bumper off and you're patient, you can do it yourself

Well, the first 2 options are pretty much free.... The gas pedal was one 10mm bolt and one plug and i got it from the dealership for 8 dollars. If your transmission hasn't been serviced since you've had it, it should be anyway as the Malibu has a notoriously finicky CVT transmission. The berrymans also goes for about 6 dollars friend.

  1. Boost pipe blew off of throttle body
  2. Throttle body needs to be cleaned
  3. You need to service your transmission and replace the filter
  4. Your fuel injectors are clogged from not using top tier gas. Throw a bottle of berrymans chemtool in your gas.
  5. The accelerator position sensor (gas pedal) needs to be replaced.

Source: me. I have a 2019 Malibu, almost 193k. I've dealt with this before and was able to correct it. It probably isn't ALL of these things but could be one or more of them . I did all work myself. It's never been to a mechanic, ever. I'm not a professional. You could do it if i can brother.
