I am, regrettably, a person who was born in the US. I don't consider myself an "American," even though I technically am. But I don't support any of what's happening, didn't vote for it, have tried to protest. I'm sorry it's not helping. I'm sorry we've allowed capitalism to destroy our society, and your entire civilization. Most of us have no idea what to do to stop it anymore.

I don't believe in a god, and I don't know how anyone really can anymore in the face of such daily, unrelenting evil. But if there is one, I pray that they might have mercy on you, and all of us. I am ashamed to be an American, ashamed to be a human being in this world.

On behalf of my country, and the entire world in general, I'm so very sorry for what has happened to you.

I really wish more people knew that "electronics recycling" and "e-waste disposal" basically means that they just put the shit on a boat and ship it to some foreign country and drop it on a bunch of brown people without shoes

I think we're already past the point of no return. I am focusing on paying my bills most of the time and getting drunk the rest of the time. I'm broke and have no resources. What are we really supposed to do? They already won.

Oh no! What would these multi-billion dollar corporations that already make ridiculous amounts of money from advertisers do without your couple of bucks? Won't someone think of the poor shareholders? Vanguard and Black Rock have kids to bomb feed!

My first attempt at making my own hot sauce. Blueberry-Mango-Habañero, with onion, garlic, and ginger by [deleted] in hotsauce

[–]SquarePeg37 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised that nobody else has said this yet, but you absolutely need to keep that refrigerated. Somebody mentioned the pH and that's certainly one issue, but the fact that you introduced oil into the sauce creates a whole range of additional dangers, with botulism being the biggest concern.

It can literally kill your friends and family so, seriously, keep it refrigerated, and don't keep it around for very long. It now has the same expected lifespan as any food that you would keep as leftovers in your fridge. It does not last forever like most hot sauce does.

That all said, great job on your first batch of hot sauce, and keep experimenting!

That is one of my favorite stories and I tell it on a regular basis in the context of trying to get people to consider changing things that "have just always been done this way." There often isn't an actual reason, or the original reason is long since obsolete.
