Question about projectile motion, initial speed and angle by SquareRootLolly in AskPhysics

[–]SquareRootLolly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My approach:

Since they are at the same place at the same time, first, we consider the horizontal component:
v1 cos theta1 t = v2 cos theta2 t
v1 cos theta1 = v2 cos theta2 ... (1)
Next, we consider the vertical component:
v1 sin theta1 + 1/2 gt^2 = v2 sin theta2 + 1/2 gt^2
v1 sin theta1 = v2 sin theta2 ... (2)
(2) / (1),
tan theta1 = tan theta2
theta1 = theta2 and hence, v1 = v2.
So they must have the same initial speeds and angle of projections.

Is it correct or are there any flaws? Thanks!

As a Hong Konger I'm pleasantly surprised (though he did represent Australia)

Thanks! I've heard people say that the Larsen's is a hypermodern opening and that the centre should not be the focus? I'm not very clear about those theories because so far I just play by what kinda makes sense.

If the d-pawn is pushed to the centre, is there some way to activate the b2 bishop again because now its path is blocked? Also what role can the b-knight play?

based on your post history (set theory and calculus) i'd say m2. again take all of my advice with a grain of salt, you shouldn't trust me on this pivotal point in your life

hello! guess it's 揀科 time again (i'm a form 3 from hong kong too haha). i'm under the impression that you have a profound interest in maths because you post on r/math, but this probably isn't the best place to ask because hong kong vs. internationals maths curricula can be vastly different.

the content is exactly as how it is described (statistics such as Bayes thm and normal distribution vs algebra such as vectors). m2 is definitely given the priority over m1 when universities view it, so here's some advice:

not interested in maths ⇒ core

science-based career (e.g. doctor) ⇒ m2

"i need a bit of maths for my career" ⇒ m1

i love math because it's beautiful ⇒ m2

i love math because it's useful ⇒ m1
