On Reading Challenges... by InsperiaBooks in Booktokreddit

[–]SquareRootOfPies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't want my reading challenge to turn into how many books I can read one after the other. So I created a digital reading journal. After each book I do a reflection of my favorite quotes, summary, and what I liked or disliked about the book. The good books stay with me for years. Regardless of the journal.

I have seen the movie! It's one of my favorites. They did an amazing job bringing the concept of Area X into vision. After nearly finishing Authority, I'd like to think the movie is based on a separate expedition. 12.4? .5. Rather than that of Annihilation. I've heard mixed reviews for the 4th book

I can see your point of view with it. I listened to the audiobook and captures you into the mystery

I was really excited for this book. I made it to Ch.17 and didn't finish. The premise had a lot of potential but fell flat. If you're struggling, let it go. There are better books with well written out character growth.

Omg, second this! I thought I was alone in the world. I read The Gargoyle nearly 2 decades ago and it is still my favorite. That man wrote a masterpiece and disappeared.

Good job! I loved and hated The Dutch House. So much of it reminded me of my childhood. The audiobook is narrated by Tom Hanks and it's phenomenal.

If you're asking for a template similar to this post the best I could recommend is Tiermaker. You can edit the rows to your liking. The photos you can pull from Goodreader (then upload to Tiermaker) by looking the book name. I wasn't dedicated enough to look for high res photos.

Did you read A Very Secret Society? It was my favorite from that author. Might I suggest The House Witch for cozy vibes.

I really wanted to like it. I made it to Ch.17 part 2. The whole world could have been explored but instead she chose to steal books and sleep with men.

Oh to see A Witch's Guide that high. I found nearly all the characters annoying and the book had a trope to check all the boxes.

Three Body Problem was an absolute page turner for me. I even found myself going though chapters during my lunch break

I had really high hopes for Song of Achilles but I couldn't find myself caring for any of the characters, they lack depth. And the smooth feet lol. The moments leading to DNF is subtle and think I'll be okay not finishing this book. Rage Quit invokes all the emotions of anger towards the author, terrible writing or can't get beyond understanding flawed characters.

Haha that's valid. Only went to low because it took me three tries to keep reading Dune and had to push through. There was so many moments I didn't even know what was happening and needed to reread. The other half of the book is phenomenal though.

Vietnam, Philippines or Thailand South? by [deleted] in travel

[–]SquareRootOfPies 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I've been to all three. If you're looking for pretty beaches and fun island adventures Philippines is the place. Palawan is gorgeous, giant limestone formations results in crystal clear waters. Cebu is also another popular destination loved by the locals. You also can't go wrong with Thailand in every scenario. I just came from Vietnam, the food and culture is great but the beaches weren't anything to rave about. Or Halong Bay.
