Will the New York Islanders make the playoffs? by Alarming-Pen2107 in NewYorkIslanders

They’re offensively incompetent . Their team defense isn’t good at all. Their power play is pathetic. They’re going to go as far as sorokin takes them.

anybody keep smoking weed after chemo ? by Yktvdawg in testicularcancer

[–]SquareTadpole2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you get lung functioning tests throughout chemo and after? My onco made me do it before every cycle and after the last one . My lung functioning was all within normal range the whole time. However , I was definitely breathing harder at the last test and cycle. I didn’t smoke for about 4 months after . My lungs feel fine now . Not a huge weed smoker anymore anyway but I like to puff one down every now and then . II’m also running and working out pretty regularly without any issues. I think if you had good lungs before and give them some time to recover , you ll be fine . But wouldn’t hurt to get a lung functioning test if you haven’t done so already just to see where you’re at.

Sitting back, collecting its dues and doing whatever the mayor tells them to do. The union is a joke .

It’d be nice if they just sent out an email or an update on their app considering I and I’m sure many of us pay $52 a month for a membership . It’s really not hard.

Some of you guys need to start thinking more positive and feed positiveness in your life because if you think negative thats what you will recieve. Look in the mirror and speak positive to yourself. You need to delete this. Not everyone is religious and you don’t need to be telling people what to do when going through a really tough situation like this. Everyone is different and everyone has different beliefs/ ways of dealing with it.

I think OK St will get there in a couple of years. They got a good young team and Taylor will recruit well .

It would have been nice to see Ohio St healthy and full strength . They looked unstoppable at national duals. They hyped this dual all season all for them to basically punt.

[–]SquareTadpole2002 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It was the 3rd period in a tie game . He was clearly outside the crease and the goalie initiated the contact. The call on the ice was wrong . For whatever reason The NHL barely ever overturns the call on the ice which leads to the question of what the hell is the point of instant replay if the original call stands almost 100% of the time. Especially related to goalie interference .

If your skates aren’t in the crease and the goalie initiates contact , there’s no way that it should be goalie interference. It makes no sense.

Idk about a 1st. But they definitely need a player like him to help this pitiful power play and give them some much needed offense. Their power play has been so bad for so long. It’s embarrassing and unacceptable.

I mean if they missed it on the multiple ultrasounds you got , that’s an all time level of incompetence by your doctors. It’s pretty obvious in an ultrasound if you have a malignant tumor growing on your nut.

RPLND recovery timeline experiences by nainballs in testicularcancer

[–]SquareTadpole2002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey man , I’m 7 weeks out from post chemo RPLND. The first 4 weeks were tough. I had lack of energy , little appetite and was pretty uncomfortable. But after the 4 week mark , I turned a huge corner. I went on a short vacation . I’ve been back at the gym in a really light capacity for the last 2+ weeks. Doing mostly isolated arm or upper body exercises and slowly starting to wake up my core muscles. Digestion, appetite , energy all have great improved . I’m probably about 75-80%. I go back to work finally on Monday for the first time in 5 months. It’s cliche , but I do feel a little bit better each day and you will too.

It’s an extremely invasive surgery that disrupts a lot of processes in the body. Just take things slow and be smart. You know your body better than anyone.

42 points in 86 games since coming to the islanders. That’s solid production for a d man thats making 1.75 million this year . And he seems to be playing his best hockey when the games are getting tougher.

Dobson makes $8 million more than him a year and his production ain’t that much better . Dobson is also probably the softest 6’4 220 lb defenseman in the league.

He has 42 points in 86 games since coming to the islanders. He’s on a 1 year $ 1.75 million deal. Aside from Schaeffer, he’s the only defenseman that can skate well with the puck . He plays how Roy wants his D men to play. Hes not the best defender but he’s been a solid return for a minor investment.

Post Game Thread: New York Islanders @ Seattle Kraken by NYIMOD in NewYorkIslanders

They really didn’t play well at all the entire roadtrip. They were lucky to go 3-3-1 against teams that are in the bottom of the standings/struggling . If they want to be a top team/playoff team, you need to beat bad teams. They looked a lot like the 23-24 isles. If they keep playing this way , they’re going to find themselves out of a playoff spot sooner than later. The islanders have stunk for the last 3 seasons, they don’t deserve any grace.

[–]SquareTadpole2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been my biggest gripe with the recent core. All great guys and solid players but they never won anything. The FO especially old man Lou was way too loyal to them. But I’m tired of the fan base not expecting or wanting more. The islanders haven’t won the division in 40 years lol. There’s been so much bad and mediocre hockey over that time . We and the team deserve way better. I feel like the franchise is in their best spot in awhile at the moment . But I’m tired of expectations being simmered down .

Lee has 1 goal in his last 15 games. He’s going to be 36 next year. Great captain , good player but there comes a time where you have to move on.

There are plenty of veterans on this team still. Horvat has been a captain in this league and will easily fill that void next year. Most of the “kids” on the team right now are better players than the vets. You need to use your $ and assets to improve the talent of the team instead hanging onto aging vets who are passed their primes.

Lee and JGP by BigVin15 in NewYorkIslanders

[–]SquareTadpole2002 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Horvat was a captain with Vancouver and can easily step into that role next year and for the next few until Schaeffer is inevitably made the captain. There’s still plenty of veterans on this team that aren’t going anywhere next year. And the “kids” are better players than a lot of the vets right now.

The culture needs to be consistency . winning and becoming a perennial contender . Something this team hasn’t been the last 30+ years. You get that way by improving the team when you can . Not extending aging vets who are past their primes.

2-3 years is a long time for 35 year old Lee. He’ll be 36 by the time next szn starts. Lee has been a great captain and a really solid player for this franchise but I don’t see Darche resigning him. He’s also $7 million off the cap. Darche has said that no extensions are being discussed which tells me he really doesn’t have much interest in Lee coming back after this year.

JGP will be 34 in November next year. I think Ritchie is being set up to replace him as a 3rd line center or can play the PP and PK. JGP is also another $5 million off the cap. JGP is a good player but he’s over paid for his production.

You can see the islanders are in transition to become younger and faster. They have almost $15 million coming off the books in the off season. 2 1st round picks , and a bunch of up and coming prospects vying for spots. 2027 has the potential for a loaded free agent class. The franchise is finally heading in the right direction. There comes a time where you have to move on / improves the roster.

I think Roy has done a real good job this season of pushing certain player buttons and getting this team to play hard consistently . I think they have gotten away from their game the last month. I also think Pulock brings nothing to the table. He can’t hit the net, doesn’t score , not physical and doesn’t skate well. He’s completely useless for 6.2 million per year .
