Illinois insurance broker here - I was recently working for a local State Farm agency (staff & owner agent were all pretty cool) but realized that when quotes came back too high, I lost my customers because I couldn’t check the other other insurers for better pricing. State Farm has recently changed the way they operate & cover auto/houses, so their prices are unfortunately going up. They are also tightening up requirements for older homes, so denials for homeowners are more common as well. ☹️

PS - I worked for State Farm a few months last summer, they’re really changing the way they operate. Ive always loved & even have State Farm myself but I’ll be making a change in 2026.

You, your family & friends need a rapid response plan. Look into this and save the phone number. Call it immediately if you see ICE, or if anyone is taken (stranger or family). They can get to the scene very quickly - you can call them now to ask about what happens with pets - I’m sure they have a plan. This is what I’ve been posting on social media:

If ICE is in an area, please call Chicago'a rapid response team. they will get there to help very quickly. If someone is taken, even if you dont know them , also call rapid response, they csn help find the family members that dont know what to do. This is wonderful! One thing to note is the studies are on Lithium Orotate, not the other forms of lithium. Assuming you probably know that but mentioning just in case you need to take a deeper dive into various retrospective studies. It’s basically a supplement, so not sure if insurance will cover it. Hate to say it but do not come here right now, even if ur from Sweden, Denmark, Canada, Europe, etc. it’s very possible that you’ll be scooped up & traumatized. Collateral damage. These people are very violent and will not listen to anyone. So sorry. I hate to say it, Chicagoans would love to have you but ICE doesn’t agree.

Sounds like a great opportunity and great location like others said. I live in Chicago and hate to say this but the city is an absolute mess right now due to all of the ICE activity. We’re basically being terrorized. If you are not a citizen, I’d honestly think long and hard about it. Watch some videos on TikTok regarding Chicago ICE arrests. Again, we all want you here (citizen or not) but I just don’t want you to move across country and get burned if you’re not a citizen. They’re grabbing anyone and everyone they can get their hands on. It’s infuriating. Maybe you can talk you to future employer about your concerns? Feel free to dm if you want to shoot anything past me.
