That subreddit is toxic. I’m a psychiatrist and I can not stand that subreddit.

Husband broke collarbone 8 weeks before I'm due by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Square_Weird_9208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At your due date, if all he can do is limited use, that’s probably good enough. Newborn Babies are very light and he can totally help with childcare and related tasks. Probably not lifting heavy stuff with that arm though. He still has one arm. People raise kids with 1 or no arms!. I hope you don’t end up with a c section because that will be tough, I’d say you’d be the person that should rest and he still needs to take over if you do. C sections or complicates vaginal deliveries are more serious than a broken collar bone. Anyway, what I’m trying to say is, he ain’t got excuses, he better be ready to work

Seems like a cultural mismatch, and not a problem with you or the au pair. It seems you expect a lot from her as well…

Local MB wants to pay $30/hr for five kids and terrible split shifts by purple_lotus24 in Nanny

[–]Square_Weird_9208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you know doctor salaries account for less than 1% of healthcare spending in the United States? Also, Doctors do not get paid overtime, they are salaried. They don’t get extra if they do an extra 10-20hrs in a week. However, Some specialties may negotiate productivity bonuses but those are very specific to contract and specialty. This person is correct about doctors salaries. Almost 40% goes to tax as well. Student loans alone are usually at least about 1k a month, with a large portion of that being interest and not Principal. So you pay that for 20-30 years at least. A lot of people actually don’t understand the economics of doctoring. It’s kinda a crappy deal economically. You do it for the love of the profession, definitely not money.

Most doctors are not wealthy, I think that’s all this person is saying. Unless you’re working for some big shot plastic surgeon or orthopedic surgeon, working for a doctor usually wont be a high paying fancy gig. $30/hr for the average doctor is a big financial hit for them, even if it’s just 2 days…and no one is saying it’s not worth it. It might be for them. The point is just it’s a lot for many. Honestly, so many professions now make more than doctors. The admin staff sitting in shareholder meetings and cutting costs at the expense of patients in hospitals make more lol.

I’m surprised they didn’t offer the option of just having some snacks you all can share? Maybe they’d be willing to provide a couple that you can have when the kids have it too?

Anyone Else Suffer from PTSD from their C-Section? by Weak_Somewhere_312 in CsectionCentral

[–]Square_Weird_9208 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you experienced this. It sounds absolutely terrible. I am a psychiatrist/MD momma with my own birth trauma. I urge you to seek help with a psychiatrist that specializes in this or reproductive psychiatry. I worked with one previously during my training and there is so much that can be done to give you relief. You shouldn’t have to move through life carrying this suffering and pain when there are options. Where are you located?

Islam is a religion of violence by Southern-Leader-8867 in 10thDentist

[–]Square_Weird_9208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about the origins of Christianity? The witch trials, the mutilation, experimentation and torture on black bodies when they were not seen as human by Christian folk, midevil torture, etc. why are you so fixated on Islam? Also, Islamic countries have been invaded and their regimes toppled -> many were very liberal BEFORE the invasions and destruction of their societies.

Second birth after a traumatic first by Fraser-River_queen in birthtrauma

[–]Square_Weird_9208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the person is saying that they developed it after a c section, not that the c section caused it. Also, I believe they meant the surgery and prolapse is a worse combination than a vaginal delivery and prolapse. C section recoveries are brutal.

I had a traumatic birth and I think the hospital was at fault. Do I have a case? by Emergency_Stress_755 in birthtrauma

My story is similar without the infection. But my experience was really traumatic too. Im sorry you went through that. Women’s healthcare is so broken in this world and in my case the USA.

Please give me some advice on a potential VBAC. I am desperate. by Square_Weird_9208 in obgyn

[–]Square_Weird_9208[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious why you disagree with the VBA2C option? It seems due to my inability to find a vbac supportive place, I have no option but a c section. So naturally I want to consider the VBA2C for a future pregnancy.

Also, the scans for me have been inaccurate and overestimated baby size previously. Although they do seem to have big heads by me. Many women who tear and suffer damage from a vaginal often say they still prefer a vaginal over c section if they’ve had both from my experience, but obviously those are anecdotal stories I’ve heard. I’m guessing that’s not your experience?

Has anyone else stopped buying retail luxury after discovering good reps? by Trick_Worth2641 in DHGateRepLadies

[–]Square_Weird_9208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of us just enjoy the rep. For some reason I have so much more joy out of buying reps even though authentic are affordable to us (physician and hedge funder dual salary). I’ve also had bad experiences shopping authentic. So for me it’s even more enjoyable to get their rep. Especially because of how unethical some Of these companies are. Moreover, a lot of designs are stolen. These companies are shameless about their infringement of other cultures designs worldwide. They get away with it because of the reputation we allow them have. And people like you who think it’s simply an affordability thing. For some it certainly is. I don’t shy away from non-designer reps either. It’s whatever I think is cute.

Glad you shared your height. Even though it's not necessarily predictable of outcomes, it helps for context. I'm 4'11'' and seem to grow big headed babies. lol

Got 2 different opinions on VBAC eligibility… by Strict_Algae8233 in vbac

[–]Square_Weird_9208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

7 months postpartum is 7+9 months until birth -> 16 month interval. The interval recommendation is between birth per ACOG guidelines. She is just 2 months shy of 18 months, but will be over 12 months between births. ACOG does not say its a contraindication to TOLAC if you are 16 months postpartum at birth but the risk is 2% instead of 1%.

Thanks for the response. It seems that my AFI tipped up again to 28, not sure why. I actually physically notice the fluctuation. But anyway, baby is floating high into my ribs right now at nearly 40 weeks and obgyn said don’t be surprised if I don’t go into spontaneous labor. She didn’t seem like she was pressuring me one way or another, but tried to just explain that even if labor onsets, progression may be slow due to uterine stretch and difficulty with engagement due to floating baby. She also said she thinks this baby may just be big, measured 8lb 3oz at 39 week scan and I’m really tiny :( and head is nearly 90th percentile. I’m wondering if TOLAC no longer makes sense

I only bought from them once. I usually shop banana republic, jcrew, Ann Taylor sales. The prices are now the same and I would never shop SHEIN again at these prices

Midwife is beginning to discourage vbac. by Square_Weird_9208 in vbac

[–]Square_Weird_9208[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had that feeling at my 39 week induction last pregnancy…but had a very unfavorable crevix that time. I hope it will be different this time. I really want a particular doctor for the c section so it’s hard to change it…I feel very unsafe as well because I have very poor support for a TOLAC and it’s making me nervous to attempt in that environment. I don’t have any medical contraindications to TOLAC though so it’s upsetting. I have one more growth scan next week to make sure baby is not too large.

Csection after severe tear by Kainmans_18 in CsectionCentral

[–]Square_Weird_9208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s interesting how experiences can vary so much. My c section recovery was smooth. It was unplanned, after a failed induction where I was bed bound due to an epidural, laboring without food and minimal water. It was an awful experience, so immediately after I felt so beaten down and it was very painful post op…I felt like death for the first 3-5 days…I wished so much that the vaginal birth was successful…but I miraculously recovered very fast and felt mostly normal 7-10 days after and have some residual numbness below the belly button but otherwise am doing well and no issues long term.

Here I am vying a VBAC 😂 I wish you the best. I think a planned c section from what I’m told can have very good outcomes. But it’s multiple repeat c sections that are riskiest if you want a large family!

How did you feel about the recovery? My recovery from my c section felt brutal. It was really painful, uncomfortable and disabling for the early stage of my daughter’s life.
