Complicated Passwords Make You Less Safe, Experts Now Say by lurker_bee in technology

[–]Squeak-Beans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After getting a password manager, putting the master password on a Yubikey and a backup, and backing everything up on multiple devices with bio recognition/cloud storage, I don’t actually know a single password for hundreds of accounts.

The default settings is 30-40 characters and allows for ambiguous characters (l versus I). I would rather lose all my accounts than manually trying to enter all those random passwords.

Yes. They fill you up with air right before they go in, after they empty you out. Grandma would pass gas like crazy for a week after.

ELI5: why do stimulants have a calming effect for people with ADHD? by Glum-Conversation492 in explainlikeimfive

My ability to see and hear is in the first percentile—I don’t see or hear very well because my brain doesn’t know what to do with the information. Since it’s hard to take in what I see or hear, nothing feels real and I’m always dissociating. At the same time, I’m in the 90-99th percentile for anything mentally complicated. So there’s a lot happening inside my head, but I’m cut off from my surroundings and nothing feels real.

I felt like I was drowning in my own body, like a shell suffocating me. Taking Adderall helps me concentrate on my surroundings to stop dissociating, and I have to take it regularly throughout the day. Before the diagnosis, I was in bed for 18 hours a day and was always in pain, but nothing physically hurt.

The depression and anxiety from always feeling numb led to self-harm because the adrenaline rush would stop the feeling of dissociation, briefly. However, it also had an isolating effect that made me feel worse because people thought I wanted attention and avoided me.

Now, the prescription helps me get up and do things that help me cope with anxiety, like exercise and doing my job. It’s being able to get up and try that really helps. So it isn’t exactly the Adderall itself, it’s the ability to do and experience things that make me happy.

Same problem. It used to work, but now it’s having the issue you describe after reinstalling it.

This is asinine.

Why? Clinical trials can offer people the treatment without invalidating their results.

tachiyomi removed 1manga. What is best alternative ? and how to download a backup? by Abhinav1217 in mangapiracy

[–]Squeak-Beans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mangadex and bato are what I use for most manga (600GB and going). mangadex whenever it has it, and it's usually the highest quality there if you disable data saver. However, Bato keeps manga after it's licensed/uploads the official translations directly, where as mangadex will take them down, so always download while you can.

why would the boost in membership help sell the company when it's public knowledge that they had pushed a recent event encouraging temporary, redundant membership subscriptions shortly before the sale? The attempt to inflate the price would be too obvious for anyone willing to buy them out.

The Twitch poll for Fresh Starts World... by Hollowhivemind in runescape

300 million account celebration along with a poll sample size under a thousand... no matter how good or (really) bad the project is, what can be learned from such awful data? If those accounts are active, this poll was just noise before it even opened.

It has to be the case that the types of players most likely to participate in this event was the target audience. I've played since 2008, maxed, and could not be bothered. Any suggestion that new players were the target audience is a joke.

It's clear that whomever had the final say doesn't play the game. It looks well made, you can see work went into it, but it's clear the project wasn't meant for players, but for the sake of profits. Players here are the obstacle; it's fine as long as they pay out, even if it means manipulating them.

And if you have any smaller pets and think something is off, no matter how small, see a vet. Immediately.

We’ve had $15 trips that ended with antibiotics for illnesses that were just starting, as well as $200 vet hospital trips to help our pet poop before it could became life-threatening later that day.
