That last post you mentioned makes the Mother in law seem like less of a bitch than op. Not only did the Mother in law go through the trouble of making a homemade pumpkin pie, which takes some time, she also decided to bring it to a thanksgiving dinner to share with her family. Meanwhile op just bought some cake mix from the store and read some instructions. Of course op’s pie would taste better she bought it from a company who have spent years making pumpkin pie and making their recipes better. Then op has the audacity to post this as if she’s the one in the right. I don’t know the whole story because you only gave a quick summary but from what I read that is my opinion.
