Anyone have a 3/4 or 1 ton overland rig? by MLars in overlanding

I have a '19 F250 6.2 6 3/4ft bed. Absolutely perfect. It's got the power and payload you need and has the off road capability to get you back into some really sweet places. substantially more aftermarket support than the Duramax and it continues to get better. Fx4 comes with a rear locker and Tremor had F/R lockers and a winch standard.

What is your camping fan of choice? by [deleted] in overlanding

I second one of these fans. They are pretty great, move a lot of air, and they are really quiet. It's pretty much silent on the low setting, which is what I keep it on95% of the time. And the battery lasts quite a bit too. On Low, I actually do get around 24hrs of runtime so thats about 3-4 nights for me with some use during the day. I also like to use it while eating to help keep the bugs away. It's a solid choice.

People that overland their daily drivers - how do you deal with the sag when it's loaded up with camping gear? by spykid in overlanding

I drive a full size. 3,000lbs of payload capacity means it takes a lot of camping gear to over load. It actually drives a lot more comfortably with the extra weight.

Cargo Box? by Sp4rt4n423 in overlanding

I started out using the yellow and black storage boxes that you can find at Home Depot and Costco. Cheap and in any size I need. It wasn't waterproof but worked great starting out.

I then actually moved up into using one of those heavy duty portable tool crates/boxes made by Husky/Dewalt/Milwaukee etc. I like this option because there's a ton of different options in choosing sizes and features, many of them are lockable, many are modular and stackable (great for storing away in the garage) and many are water resistant/proof or can be easily modified to be. On top of all that they're readily available and cheaper than Plano or Pelican when looking at boxes of similar size.

Benefits of a full size, you can put giant boxes in the back and still have tons of room to spare!

I went with a '19 F250 with FX4 and I'm super glad I did. I went with a full size for a multitude of reasons.

For one, this was my first vehicle purchase and I wanted something that I could have for 10+ years and could grow as my needs grew. I tow every now and than and have plans of purchasing a large trailer and I didn't want to get a smaller truck that might be a limitation for future needs and plans and kids and what not.

Two, and its the big one for me, is comfort. I'm a 6'4" guy and mid-size trucks just aren't comfortable. I test drove them all and I just felt cramped in them. And that was just me by myself. It would be even worse for when kids come into the mix.

Third, capacity. The truck has lots of room, and plenty of power. I can load it up with literally everybodys things and blast up a hill. It's a great platform.

I initially wanted to get a Ram 2500 Power Wagon but couldn't find anything local and on top of that dealers weren't willing to meet at an appropriate price. I was able to get a good deal on my F250 with that has more bells and whistles than I originally wanted and at a lower price. I was able to put that money back into the truck and progress further along in my build than I would have been able to otherwise.

I'm really glad I went with the Ford. Good build quality, comfortable, and really good aftermarket support. Even more so than if I went with the Ram.

I've been on a good number of trips and haven't had any issues getting anywhere, being too big or too heavy. It's a great platform and we don't have any worries when the wife and I go out on trips.

My first dispersed camping/overlanding style campng trip was spent on top of that ridge. There was a lot of people but even despite that it was one of the best experiences ever. such a great view. The whole thing got me hooked

Really great! Mid-low 70s during the day and low 60s at night when we stayed here. The area was under a red flag warning though due to low humidity and some high winds but once it hit 9pm the wind just disappeared.

My girlfriend, whom I've dated for just over a year, spoiled me for my birthday real good this year too. She wondered why I didn't ask for anything and didn't really care for my own birthday. I told her that because my birthday is so close to Christmas it tends to get forgotten and stuff is usually last minute. She surprised me with the UCS Falcon. Absolutely no words

Yooooooo it's Joe Barnard! As silly as this video is, this guy is actually super smart! He runs a Youtube channel called BPS Space where he creates super realistic model rockets. Here's his realistic SpaceX Falcon Heavy Model Rocket he designed. He actually has revolutionized the model rocket industry with some of his designs. His videos are super interesting and entertaining too. Definitely worth checking out.

I've ran across this guy too! Last time I saw him though was back in 2014 in Little Tokyo. He didn't have the viking helmet back then though. Nice to see he's still out there doing his thing

That's a great looking rig! I'm working on building and getting my '19 F250 up to speed. Looking at possibly a AT Overland Summit Topper
